The intent of this product is to allow elimination of the stock signal stalks. It wasn't a change of law that caused the US version of this bike to be sold with signal stalks, that law was in place at the time that bike was put into production. I'm guessing that the bike wasn't originally intended to be sold in the US market and when it was they added the stalks to comply to US law rather than retool for a whole different rear end just for this market.

Again, just pointing out that with the signal stalks removed this product does not make the bike legal to use on roads in this country. Enforcement is probably fairly slack but if an officer decides to write a ticket or an inspector fails the bike because of this product nobody will be to blame but the purchaser.

I remember the Altezza debacle a few years back. Altezza sold tens of thousands of non-DOT compliant tail light assemblies, typically the ones with clear lenses and chrome innards for use with red bulbs. Then one day DOT started cracking down on them because they were not legal. Hundreds of tickets were issued in this area alone, and any vehicle brought in for the mandatory annual inspection was automatically failed. Most owners had long since disposed of or sold their legal tail lights and were left with no option but to try to find new or used OEM lens assemblies. The junkyards around here were scoured clean.

Just putting this info out there for informed choice making.
