So your saying my idle is completely off?? it should be at 1300??? is that the factory spec?

The manual says 1300-1350, but most people like to put it at 1500. That is pretty much the accepted norm in the ninjette community.

Are there any modifications to the bike? There are a number of things that could be wrong and there also could be nothing wrong at all.

You are new to bikes. Something important to think about is that you are outside in the street and right next to the engine. When you're in a car you're inside closed windows and so not smells get to you. A light stench of grease, gasoline and antifreeze is normal, especially if it is hot outside.

There are some major things that need to be checked though. So first let us know if there are any modification. Specifically an aftermarket exhaust would be a dead give-a-way. There are a number of other mods that go along with puting on an after market pipe and if that is the case we can trouble shoot them one-by-one.
