Marketing comes in all forms
When I was a track rider I used to put stickers on it to make it look cool because it is something that is on my bike or something use or do even if it's outside of motorcycling.
After so many crashes having stickers can make it a PITA to repair and repaint. So then I wouldn't rock any stickers.
Now with racing, I will only rock stickers if I have some sort of support or sponsorship through them...and I tend to pick my sponsors for things I really support and love and I do make sure to market them well.
