That's easily 4-5,000 worth of damage, I think that would make it some sort of felony. Police get all hard and excited when it comes to possibly pursuing a felony. And, unlike insurance claims where the damage value caps off at the "market value" of the bike, I believe that criminal claims are for the actual damage amount. I wish you luck in this. Had my neighbor done this to my bike they'd be coming home to a soot-covered slab today.
