EX 500 wheels on a 250?
Does anybody have any idea if i can put a set of ex 500 wheels on my 09 250?
I know that they take the same stock tire size. I just love the tri-spoke design. thoughts? |

http://www.ex-500.com/index.php/topi...tml#msg1101962 is my post about putting the VRossi wheels on my 500. Compare the parts diagrams - http://www.kawasaki.com/SITE/VIVEHIC...chModel=EX500D and http://www.kawasaki.com/SITE/VIVEHIC...chModel=EX250J. Most of the parts are exactly the same between the two.
The front wheel uses a different size spacer collar between the bearings. If you're buying used wheels, there's a good chance the bearings and spacer will already be in it. The speedo drive is slightly different. The 250 has tabs built into the hub of the wheel to turn the speedo drive, whereas the 500 uses a separate part that slides into slots on the wheel. The 500 drive has a single tab on it, which sits behind a tab on the fork to keep it from rotating. The 250 drive has two tabs, which surround a tab on the fork. The 500's fork tab is slightly wider than the 250's, so you need to widen the notch on a 250 drive to fit the 500 fork. However, I think a 500 drive should fit the 250 fork without problems (it just has to sit behind that tab). Other than those two little things, it should be a direct swap.

awesome thanks a lot. that's super helpful. I'll probably try it out with some used ones. They sell separately so I'll do on at a time, not just blow a bunch of money and get in over my head.
