Bluetooth Head set decision. Need help

I really want another Bluetooth headset for my helmet. But there are so many out there and I cant find the one that fits my needs. Here is what I'm looking for

1: Bluetooth
2: Obviously a Microphone
3: The ability to plug headphones into the unit so I can use my ER6I ear buds
4: intercom

Number 3 is the one I'm having trouble with, I seem to not be able to find anything that will work with my idea. If it comes down to it ill make it myself but thats not what I would like to do

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure but its entirely possible. What I'm thinking is you could take the unit and attach it to the front, inside, of your helmet. Then you can attach whatever headphones you want to it and since it's blue tooth the only wires will be the headphones. You're talking about using it solely with headphones right? Because it is not an earpiece

Lol, its funny, I've looked at this particular bluetooth many times before and wondered who would ever have a need for this. I mean, wired headphones plus bluetooth??? Why would anyone EVER need that? Defeats the purpose of even having a bluetooth (unless you put it in your helmet )

You deleted your post, wtf mang!?

Bring in a print out of the amazon bluetooth to an AT&T store. An accessory hungry rep will price match it.

I have the Sena SMH10, works great!
Plays/controls my music from iPhone wirelessly via Bluetooth.
Obviously phone calls too!

You can buy a single pack instead of the 2 pack.
Good luck on your search!

If you still have any extra parts, I'll take 'em.

Alternatively, I have a mount with a working mic that one of the speakers fell off of but I was planning to splice a headphone jack like you did.

LMK if you want it.

30 day return policy, no restocking fee.

Also has a 1 year warranty which, if the headset stops working, we hand you a new one in the store. Try that at best buy

Yep Without an account though you will need to keep your original receipt in order to return it or get a new one via warranty

Check this out - http://www.cardosystems.com/us/homepage. Personally i have no experience with these headsets so i can't comment on them. You might want to search for reviews. AFAIK, they are pretty good.

I have the cardo systems scala rider G4. I mostly use it for music and radio. It has good features, but kinda pricey. I've only made a couple calls on it, but not while moving. I received a call on the road once, and upon answering, i had trouble hearing the caller (my mom). I managed to make out that she heard me just fine. I was in pretty windy conditions going about 55 mph, and at the time my visor was loose on one side and so I had more than normal wind noise. I was also wearing a helmet liner that covered my ears, which had earplugs in, so noise reduction was more than normal.

Although i am generally more thorough with recommendations and/or gear reviews, I have not put this system through it's paces, nor do i have a basis of comparison as this is my first helmet mounted bluetooth headset. So in all actuality, all i can really contribute are these video links LOL:

Well, after reading a lot of reviews from real world users, along with calls to various stores, I'm going to be ordering a Sena SMH10 Dual Pack.

If you're still looking for a bluetooth solution by the time it comes in, I'll let you know how I like it for solo riding to listen to music and make phone calls. My brother is coming down for Thanksgiving and I can let you know how 2person communication is after he gets here and I try that out with him.

In helmet audio and cellphone

I'm not too sure of the technical word, but i'm looking for the best/value in helmet audio/bluetooth system. I want to be able to take/receive cell phone calls and I want to be able to listen to music. I know there are alot of systems out there, but I have no idea which ones are good or not. So for those that use something like what I'm describing, please let me know.

I honestly want to buy a helmet that has it already in it like these. Plus, it's super easy, one button controls. I even found one helmet that allows voice commands. (1st link) http://www.gpleathers.com/shop/11-he...31-bluetooth-4
http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/PR...-bt-flat-black
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TORC-BLUETOO...ht_4010wt_1163

It seems like the systems by themself are really expensive.

not to be completely unhelpful in regard to your topic, but i find these systems highly annoying. talk on your cellphone when you stop. listen to the nice sound of your engine, and the sound the cars make when they cut you off. chances are you wont be as distracted when someone tries to kill you. and they will try to kill you.

I just got a bilt Freedom bluetooth helmet from cycle gear on sale for 80 bucks. The music quality is pretty good and the volume when all the way up is plenty to hear the music and stil be able to hear your surroundings easily. Highly recommend the helmet if you can still get it on sale. Even for the retail price of 230 I still highly recommend it.

Now it's $119.99. Good option tho.

A bit more but I like the option of having the radio. I'm more of a radio person than a MP3 player person.

I have the Sena SMH-10, it's awesome; I really dig it. It's simple to use even with clunky gloves, since it's only a button on the back and the jog dial.

I'll second that as I have been borrowing Eric's for the past few weeks. I'm sold once I get the $$ for it.

Borrowing my second one.

But in seriousness, the Sena over the Scala G4:

Pros:
Can be turned up louder (important if you wear earplugs and have windnoise from going 50+mph)
Has a 3.5mm jack for wired devices
One button and a jog dial (super easy to use with gloves, no fumbling around trying to find the middle button in a cluster of like 6)
Actual A2DP Stereo Bluetooth for music
Better audio quality, in my opinion
Slightly lower price tag

Cons:
None, unless all your friends have the Scala

Sorry guys, I just got a new helmet, I should have mentioned that...sorry.

It's the systems that I can add to a helmet, like the Sena mentioned before^^. So, what's the difference/pros and cons between the Sena and the Cardo Scala G4?

But in seriousness, the Sena over the Scala G4:

Pros:
Can be turned up louder (important if you wear earplugs and have windnoise from going 50+mph)
Has a 3.5mm jack for wired devices
One button and a jog dial (super easy to use with gloves, no fumbling around trying to find the middle button in a cluster of like 6)
Actual A2DP Stereo Bluetooth for music
Better audio quality, in my opinion
Slightly lower price tag

Cons:
None, unless all your friends have the Scala
I have the Sena as well. Its the best system out there and has the most bang for the buck.

Other pluses:
You can pair your GPS with it. Voice comes through the speakers. Awesome!
If you own multiple helmets, you can buy separate bases for each helmet and just plug in the Bluetooth unit into whatever helmet you want. I love this feature. I have a few helmets. Just being able to switch without taking stuff apart is very convenient.
The unit remembers you audio settings when you turn it off or switch to a different mode (phone, gps, chat, or wired mp3). You don't have to worry about having your mp3 player kill your eardrums just because you turned up the volume on your telephone call.
It has about 8 hours of use. Not standby time. Use! And this is no exaggeration. I streamed my mp3 player for about 8 hours. It's the longest lasting unit out there.

Primarily, I chose this one because a friend had it and I wanted to communicate with him. Different brands are not compatible with each other. And the battery life sold me!

Dude thanks for the info.

Well guys I put the money down on a Sena SMH10 on Friday and it should be home by Wednesday. I can't wait to get it. I know some of you have your doubts about having all of those distractions, but no one hardly calls me and I'll really only use my music on long trips.

Ok guys it's installed and working perfectly!!! I'll post pics later tonight. I took it on the highway and around town, even at 70-80 mph, most of my music was loud enough. Although anything with deep bass wasn't heard too well. The microphone gets in the way a little, so I just need to experiment with different positions. Now I can't wait for someone to call me

I thought it was illegal in most states to operate a motor vehicle with headphones/earbuds on? I was considering running earbuds (only one ear) into my helmet when I start riding for quiet music/GPS directions, but now I'm not sure.

In PA, you can use a "headset in conjunction with a cellular telephone that only provides sound through one ear and allows surrounding sounds to be heard with the other ear," but I feel like if for some reason I ever got pulled over and had my phone's earbud in, I'd get in trouble. hmm.
