First real drop since I got the bike

I got it practicing just about a minute ago... was in my local parking lot *apartments*

Practiced doing tight slow circles left and right and emergency stops. I locked up the front tire, it turned hard to the left and the bike fell to the right. I tried to stop it but failed =[

Broke my right front turn signal, scratches on the fairing (the worst part lol) and some scratches on the exhaust.

not much more to say... I'm fine.

good job

i'm serious. it's better then not practicing and doing it when someone cuts you off on the highway then the idiot behind you runs you over. a few scratches and a broken signal are minor

keep practicing. remember, stay smooth. don't grab; steady increase in braking force... you don't want to go faster than your forks can keep up, otherwise your front goes bye-bye

Just got back from a recovery ride.... the scratches so butt hurt me I had to go for a ride. I'm just sad about the aesthetics and what my moto-sensei has to say about it.

I'll find out what he has to say tomorrow at Compa night at the bike shop and hear from all the motorcycle guru's there.

Did you have the bars turned even slightly when your bike went over? I couldn't tell if it dropped while you were practicing your circles or practicing your fast stops. Either way, if you were circling, ONLY use the rear brake when the bars are turned. That actually helps the bike stand up rather than tipping it over (unless you use too much and the bike stops...a stopped bike will always tip! Ask me how I know. ) If it was during fast braking only, you may have been too tight on the bars and pushed one of them while braking. The reason MSF teaches us not to swerve and brake simultaneously is because our bikes lose traction if both are done at the same time. When hard braking, clench the tank between your knees and have your arms as relaxed and loose on the bars as possible. Just some suggestions from someone who's been there. It took me forever to feel confident in parking lots, and that was with a lot of practice. Good luck! You'll get it. Just keep practicing!

Sorry to hear, don't let it discourage you.. I had a few close calls stopping too. Just make sure those handlebars are straight when squeezing that front brake. I've been lucky so far, been able to catch the weight of it a couple of times.
