wife is going to kill me!!

Hi all,
Name is Winston from Connecticut. I bought a 2007 250, her name is Testarosa. She needs lipstick and little TLC, she has 2100 miles as was slid 148ft on her right side due to some gravel by her previous owner. I think I did OK for $700.
I will be posting a wtb thread for the handlebar, side markers, rear pedal and brake lever. I am still torn Modding or just getting used oem parts.

This is my first bike so next thing is buying up parts , get into a safety class and buy my armor. Thanks in advance for the help I know I will be needing!

Here she is, check out that rear brake pedal all worn down:

I was thinking about a motorcycle for a couple years now, I started watching Cafe Racer TV and then a co-worker was telling me about his misfortune and joked about me coming to take a look. So i went to "look". He is storing her while I get parts and my license endorsement after my class.

Are the tires worn out beyond use in your opinion? or are you saying I should upgrade? Either way what is the recommendation for a budget tire, I do not plan on racing or anything. Just gonna putz along and commute about 70 miles a day round trip a few times a week during this riding season.

Check the date of manufacture stamped on your tires.
They become hard and dry with time, especially is exposed to Sunlight, which make them skid more than normal.

These articles explain the details:

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_lon...o_replace_them

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Tires

For sporty commuting I have been getting excellent service from cheap Kenda K671.

The Bridgestone BT45's seem to be the most highly recommended tire for the pregens, but when I went to get some put on mine, the guy at the store said they stopped making them in our size. Regardless, those aren't exactly budget tires anyway.

I ended up getting some Shinko 005's. I'm happy with them so far! They grip really well and were about half the price of the BT45's.

Sounds like a similar story...I told my hubby about a bike a friend was selling. 2008 Daytona 675 for $3,500 roughly 3k miles. He went to "look" at it and now we have another bike in our garage! I'm always hearing it's easier to get forgiveness than permission...

Enjoy!

Passed my safety course yesterday. Was in the rain alll frgrn day! I got a 100% on the written Parr and 10 demerits on the practical portion. 8 points where from the u turn box, went slightly out twice. The other. Two points were from taking the turn test slightly too slow and stopping 1 foot beyond average on quick stop test. Glad its. Done, on to fixing and modding the bike.

welcome to the club, don't let your wife kill you before she gets a chance to hop on and experience riding (pillion or otherwise)

you got a crazy good deal, that's around what I'm spending to build up a pregen track bike from a salvage bike w/blown engine and a totaled parts only bike.

Its all part of the game.

Good deal on the bike. Low miles

Good luck fixing it up. You can go a lot of ways with a 700$ bike

There is still time for that, don't worry she will find another reason.

She actually did not give me grief, just does not believe me I paid $700, she thinks it was a few gs.

Put some shorty levers,ex500 adjustable clutch perch, front flushmounts, got the r6 throttle tube and new grips to put on.

I get btw that the appearance doesn't imply you don't look after your ninjette. I imagine it gets (or got) more mechanical care than I give my bike. It does look a sorry state though

Based on appearance alone; if your ninjette pressed charges against you I think the Jury would side with your ninjette.
