Awesome tool for adjusting mixture screws - with both fairings on!

This is not a DIY for adjusting carb mixture screws per say, as it doesn't address theory, etc. But I did want to share my new tool, and ease of the new way this procedure can be done. It may, however, be a good supplement to the DIYs intended to teach mixture screw adjustment. Sorry for the pic quality, all pics are from my iphone 3gs.

While ordering other parts recently, I semi-impulsively ordered the Motion Pro 90-degree carb tool (MoPro90 from here). It's a bit pricey, so I could never justify it before, but when I found it on sale somewhere, I took the opportunity.

Originally I thought it would be an awesome replacement for my Milwaukee off-set screwdriver head for other jobs too (like removing the top covers on the carbs), but very quickly discovered this tool is only designed to provide precise adjustments, and cannot transfer much torque at all. So my 90 degree Milwaukee stays for other jobs.

Another thing I quickly discovered, was that the MoPro90 has detents when it is turned. It is very easy to precisely turn your screws exactly 1/16th turn to 1 full turn, buy either watching the tick marks, and/or counting the clicks. I THINK this feature can be disabled if you don't like it, but I find it helpful.

There are a selection of bits included that are specifically for carb adjustments, but this is the only one I think we would really use. I also found this bit is sized more precisely to the mixture screws, and is MUCH easier to feel when it is properly seated in the screw slot, when compared to the old generic flat-head bit I had been using with the Milwaukee tool.

Here is the BEST PART.... I found that both mixture screws can be adjusted with BOTH fairings on the bike! This makes it soooo much easier to make those minor tweaks without the temptation to put it off because you have to remove the fairings again.

A small light and mirror (optional) will verify the current screw setting.

Here you can clearly see how the MoPro90 fits right in with the fairing in place.

Cool I like it. Where did you buy it and how much did it turn out to be? I've been using the same offset screwdriver you mentioned but like you say, its difficult to get them uber precise.

I don't remember exactly... I get most of my parts from Bikebandit, but it may have been from somewhere else. I may have paid in the $60 range, but it may have been a little more. I would have paid full price a long time ago, had I known how much time it could have saved me.

Just bought one. It's such a pain adjusting these things. Noone sells the Milwaukee one anywhere near me either, so man do I need this thing.
