Blinker problem at speed

Hi all

Maybe someone here can help me out, a strange thing started happening on my 250, the blinkers (turn signals) go crazy at speeds above 110 km/h. If the bike is stopped or at slow speed they work fine, but when i hit the freeway and get some speed they dont work and go all crazy. Blink rapidly, out of sync or don't blink at all.

I've checked all the wires and made suer everything is connected correctly, i can only think that the relay is gone or is affected by the vibration.

Any ideas?

You need more blinker fluid Have you inspected the bulbs and does speed affect all four lights?

I'll make sure i pop my head in front of the bike next time i'm doing 110km/h on teh freeway, lol

Nah i'm going off the blinker light on the dash and the clicking sound, the relay clicking goes haywire and the light on the dash doesnt flick in sync.

Am i making sense?

If the blinkers work at speed (have someone follow you to confirm) then you may have a short in the dash.

They don't work at speed, also noticed that it's rev related and not speed, the higher the revs the faster they blink until they fail. Any ideas?

Maybe check the charging voltage.

Measure the voltage across the battery terminals and rev the motor the max voltage should be around 14 to 15 volts if it goes higher then the regulator is faulty, or the battery is faulty and the regulator can’t regulate.

do the other lights get brighter as the revs increase? that would be in line with Steve's measuring the voltage. I had a bike with a bad rectifier (6Volt system) and at low rpm you couldn't beep the horn and use the blinkers, but at higher rpm you could.

Thanks for all the replies, i need to take it one step at a time.

Electrical mods:

- LED turn signals at the back
- After market turn signals at the front.
- After market turn signal relay
- 12VDC plug with switch and inline fuze.

Everything worked fine for about 1 month, so i'm guessing the relay has gone.

Step 1

I've removed all the turnsignals and relay. Converted everything back to stock. Haven't tried it yet because it was late and didn't want to wake the neighbours.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks

Stop approching the speed of light and maybe your blinkers will work properly . To me it might have something to do with the battery and generator. Only at speed is the bike recharging and maybe there's a bad connection.

Thats why this thing is a rocket, at the speed of light why do i need blinkers anyway. lol

BTW - Source of the problem was a faulty relay. Couldn't handle the pressure.

Thanks to all for the feedback.
