Hayabusa Lowering Links?

I found some info on using busa links to raise the rear of the bike up. Has anyone actually done this? The links are actually really cheap like 20 bucks but just wanted to see if this was a direct bolt on in the stock location before I purchased them.

I don't know. But I'm about to research the hell out of it. I'm 6'2" and I can't get my ass high enough to get my foot position right when I'm tucked down, so this would be good. It's to my understanding that an sv650 shock might raise the tail but I haven't done it myself yet, so don't take that as truthfact.

There's a thread around here somewhere that has all the part sources to build some links like these, but I can't find it. When I do I'll post the link up.

Or you could buy these from Rexbo? I think I might

@!!(0_o)!! If you raise the rear of the bike don't the foot pegs come up with it? I think what you are looking for are adjustable rearsets.

Hmm.. Now that I think think about it, you're right.. Ah well I could still use the raised seat height. I doubled up the foam when I recovered the seat and I still have my feet flat and my knees bent at stop lights. I've also been riding liter bikes my whole cycling career so I might just need to adapt to that.

What you need to do is try out for the NBA.

Just to let you know. I've got a shock from an '08 250 on my pre-gen. It did raise the rear some, though I'm not sure exactly how much, plus it's a nice upgrade. I did have to raise the forks as much as I could, because the raised rear end was hurting my wrists.

And yes if you raise the bike you also raise the footpegs, but that just means you can lean over further without scraping.

You can put a newgen or ninja 300 shock on your bike and that will raise it up plus give you a mildly adjustable suspension

Nah. I'm only 5'9" and have long legs. I raised my tail about 2.5 inches, and I still have a little bend in the knee when I flat-foot.

To add to the thread: I'm not sure if Rexbo's links or busa links will work on a pregen or not.

I use custom length adjustable links from Soupy's Performance that allow me to go everywhere from stock height to 4 inches up. They're pricey, but well worth it. The adjust-ability is a very good thing because then I can adjust to keep the geometry the same with any tires that I use. I also can lower if if I go too high and start getting speed wobbles. So far, no issues; not on the street, not on the track.

Just don't forget, when you raise the tail, the bike carries more weight on the nose. You'll notice bad front suspension more. You'll also notice that more roll-on through corners is need to get the same squat on the rear.

I've been looking at that as well.. How's the suspension on the 300, mainly is it any more adjustable than the newgen?

It just has preload adjustment. But the shock has more damping because they redid the valving. If you're heavy, this would be a good thing.

Remember that a balanced suspension handles best. If you improve the rear, plan on spending some money to improve the front also.

Yeah I've just cleaned and checked the engine and coolant system, and got new tires. The sprocket set and wheel bearings are next and then I'm addressing the suspension, because luckily it's the least in need of attention. The po abandoned this bike so bad. Buying it was like rescuing a puppy chained to a tree in a mud hole..

Do you have a measurement from eye to eye on the soupys links that you have installed?

Nope. Sorry. And they're almost 3 hours away from me so I won't be able to measure them.

Will do. I'll be home Mid-May. If you haven't gotten yours made by then, let me know on here and I'll remember to measure them for you.

Info on the stock dogbone length:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Are_the...ng_the_bike%3F

Do some measuring of your bike, then do some trig to find out how much shorter your dogbones should be. Or just ask Rexbo how long his are
