Ideal idle speed?

Have been scanning the posts on the forum, can someone point me in the right direction?

I've noticed that my 2009 Ninjette starts up well, usually without an adjustment to the choke, but idles low compared to my old bike, even after warming up. Any pointers on tuning that up slightly? What is an ideal idle speed for the 250?

I know that the carbs were cleaned and adjusted at the dealership this Spring before I bought the bike (last owner didn't know how to winter store worth a damn, how sad!) I know she has new filter, oil and gas, and only 1600km on the engine so far.

Thanks! I'm learning this all as I go, any help is appreciated!

Kkim will tell you 1500 is the ideal idle.

But - don't try and adjust the idle until the bike is fully warmed up. After at least a 20 minute ride, let the bike return to idle, and only then adjust it to ~1500 rpm.

I just got my 600mi service done and they said they adjusted the idle. I'm not sure if they warmed up the bike first but on start the idle is about right after a few minutes. after riding for 15 min or so the idle is around 2k. Like stopped at traffic lights i'll notice its about 2k.

Is that right? or should it still be around 1.5 after riding?

mine is rather low: about 1100, but it doesn't stall. I kind of like the growl you get then

Kawasaki says 1250-1350... however I just make it easy and do 1500.
