Good chain and brake pads.

My 2011 Ninja 250r is nearing 15,000 miles and the chain which was poorly taken care of early on and the brakes are in serious need to be replaced. I checked the Kawi dealership near me for the parts but they are overpriced with everything they do so my questions are what would be a good chain and break pads or should I just stick with OEM? What size is the chain? I'm not sure if my rotors are bad, I heard they last almost the life of the bike, should I look into getting new rotors? Maybe sprockets as well? All the help that can be provided is appreciated.

Well...if you're changing the chain (you should be able to get the type/length etc by searching on the forum) you'll definitely need to get new sprockets. As to brake pads, get the EBC HH sintered ones, they're great (about $40) and much better than OEM ones. As to rotor wear, I recently had to replace mine (because it had been warped), but I've heard that they last a long time...one thing to do would be to use a micrometer to measure the width of the rotors and compare that with the width of a new one, that ought to tell you if you need to change 'em or not. Good luck bud.

Thanks for the help but the problem is I don't know the stock size. I know it's 520 but i dunno if it's a 520-108, 520-93 or whatever.

stock chain is 106 links. You can buy a regular 520-120 link chain and cut it down to a 105 link plus master. Stock gearing is 14t front and 45 tooth rear.

I'm running an OE Aftermarket X-ring chain and sprockets by Parts Unlimited. Sprockets are slightly lighter than stock. I already had the clip style master link break (bought a replacement clip and safety wired it.) for added insurance, go with a rivet style master link.

Safety wire for clips is a must, unless a riveted link is used.

Clips were safe enough for old chains; however, O-ring chains tend to spit the clips.

Doesn't say if these are for the front or the rear.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...ing-Chain.aspx

With the 130 option.

These would be great?

Front and rear brake pads on the 250 are the same. I think you would be safe with the chain. You could always shop on ebay for better pricing.

I've had my RK chain for about 5,000 miles and have been satisfied with it so far.

Hate to jack the thread but anyone know of an online retailer for Vesrah pads?

From the website it looks like VD-250JL is the part number for them.
