eBay zowwie438 Brake Light Modulator DIY
I found this modulator on eBay for $14.99 and $5.00 shipping, so I got one for the 250 and one for the f4i. After purchase the seller immediately communicated that there was a supply issue, but promised to have it resolved quickly. Fine with me, the item arrived in less time with the "issue" than most products from eBay do without any problems. He was kind enough to throw in something extra for my wait. Overall I am very impressed with the seller and the modulator.
Very simple installation. I opted to solder the connections but I guess you could use splice or butt connectors. The modulator has 3 wires coming out of it. 2 on one side, one on the other side. The 2 wires on side "A" are red and black. The black wire goes to ground. I chose to ground the wire to the existing ground wires, though one could ground it to chassis if so desired. The red wire goes to the blue wire closest to the connector. The third wire comes out of side "B" and is red. It should be connected to the blue wire furthest away from the connector. The idea is for the modulator to intercept the transmission coming through the blue wire and pulse it. Ninja 250 trunk Tail light connector The black wire is ground and the blue wire carries the signal when the brake lever is pulled back. The brake light modulator Install the modulator between the cut made in the blue wire. Make sure the side with 2 wires is closest to the connector and the side with 1 wire is furthest away from the connector. Black wire from modulator spliced to black wire on Ninja. Back in place! I wrapped all of the wires in tape to make sure they were tidy and tucked everything back in place. Modulator in action. Last futzed with by TnNinjaGirl; April 26th, 2012 at 06:40 PM. |

Maybe I didn't read carefully but the auction you pointed to says LED lights only. Did you convert your taillight to a LED bulb?
