DIY- Full Yoshi Install

I see that kkim and VeX brought a lot of their DIY over so I figured I'd contribute what I have as well.
I know there is an Area P install thread I'm guessing this will be pretty similar just a different brand so if you don't feel this thread is needed feel free to delete it.
Anyway here we go:
Overall its really simple I just followed the instructions that came with the exhaust.

Everything included with the exhaust

From here I'm assuming you know how to get the stock exhaust off, if not I can post that up too. It's really simple.
Next I took off the gaskets from the stock headers put them on my headers and just hand tightened the nuts to the engine.

Now you have the headers mounted and you can slip on the midpipe and muffler, I found that the pieces mated really well and it wasn't any trouble to get them to come together.
The headers prior to attaching the midpipe and muffler

Next you want to slide the muffler clamp onto the muffler, pinch it with your hand so you can fit the stock bolt through the clamp and the passenger peg. At this point you want to take the stock washer that was previously on the outside of the peg and move it to the inside then I hand tightened the stock nut onto the bolt.
The stock washer moving to the inside of the peg

Now using the spring puller you want to attach the springs holding the header and the midpipe together.
Attaching the springs

At this point what I did was to make sure that everything lined up properly and that there was good clearance everywhere. Then I proceeded to torque everything down. I torqued the headers down to 10 ft-lbs and the bolt going through the passenger peg to 18 ft-lbs.

The final step is then to put on the heatshield

The easy part of installing your full system is now over. After this you need to pull the carbs and rejet but this is covered in other tutorials so I won't go into it here.

lol... don't you love it when the exhausts are so shiny and new before you use them?

Thanks for adding yours... I'm sure more DIYs are better than not enough, plus you added things that others left out.

good job.

Nice! It's nice to see the naughty bits of other exhausts. Yeah the yoshi is a clean looking setup with the heat-shield and all.

... And you DON'T have to pull the carbs to re-jet. In fact it's probably easier not to pull them

You can drain and drop the fuel bowls easily enough with the Milwaukee Offset Screwdriver and the jets are easy to get to:

I really love the look and sound of this exhaust. Anyone know how it compares to other exhaust as far as HP gain/weight etc...Also the pros and cons of a slip on versus full? I would love to know since this is my next item of purchase.

If I could add one thing, it would be a tip to make sure you wear clean latex gloves, or have thoroughly washed hands when installing so to not get any oil on the pipe, and to wipe the headers down reaalllllly well before the first ride, because when the oil burns on a hot pipe is how blemishes will appear and stain. It's all about that first ride.

k question, When installing the yoshimura exhaust system, is there anything else you need to do? Like rejet or something? I want to just slap on the system and see how it goes. Is that a good ideal?

Toku, that is a very fine presentation! Thanks.

Alex, I'm assuming your "no" is "no that is not a good idea."

My Fuel Injection light comes on when i start the engine after installing the full yoshi system. I presume its because i no longer have the cable attached from the cat on the original pipe, is there a way around it?

thanks

PM gregular, I think he had a Yoshi on a FI ninjette a few years back, and may have dealt with the same issue.

You need an O2 sensor, and probably a retune

Is there a noticeable performance difference?
I've decided I'll be going with Yoshi when I get a new exhaust over Two Bros.

Still undecided about an Area P though.

US doesn't have FI models yet if your location is Maryland. Not sure where you read about intake flappers, but pretty sure the ninja 250 does not have one.
