that's 2222 up to oasis bluff drive and then up Comanche Trail. It's not very long at all and didn't make for the best practice. I did it four times

Nice video quality!
How do you get the sound in there too?
I'd bring a fishing rod and see if there was any bass in that Lake Travis.

I gotta get a different mount head for my RAM mount so I can plug my other video camera on and make editable/edited videos.

I use an RCA lecture recorder in combination with an external microphone that i wire into the back of my helmet and to the front, then I tape the wire under my cheek pad.

Yea, it's supposed to be cold tomorrow (high of 38F) but I'll probably go check it out as long as it's not raining. I'll bring the filming equipment along too

Oh wow I was really close to it on the road I was riding. Had I known I was that close I woulda stopped and asked for a map.

So I was bored and just did a Google Streetview of Lime Creek Rd and this is totally not the first thing I wanted to see. I'm still gonna go tomorrow though

Woah! That's crazy!
Be careful man your first real twisties might surprise you a bit. Just remember "When in doubt lean it out!" In other words, don't get scared and straighten up, you'll go off the road. Even if it looks scary like you might not make the corner, keep leaning and steer it out anyways because the bike can take more lean than you think it can!

That and brake well before you turn.

Two best pieces of advice anyone could have given me for riding the twisties..

yeah, that isn't a pic you want to see when considering a road, but you know its gonna happen. I bet the people in NC did that with the dragon you would see it also. THough lime creek is no dragon, but its the best right now that i know of in you location.

Its alot patchier than i remember it being. Also there is a long part of boring road, which you got to experience. I don't remember everything exactly because i was grabbing the "oh sH$t" bar while being the navigator for my bro in his wrx. But i definitely need to get back out there with the 250 and try it.

I liked your comment, "why didn't i come out here the other day" LOL

I think it could be alot more fun when I go out again. Since I was going slow all of the turns seemed longer and less curvy. With speed it's the opposite

Woot! I see you found my buddy, "the edge of the road"!

Nice going steering it out dude. That's all there is to it. The natural reaction is to stand it back up, but you know what is right. Keep her turned in and brake smoothly and you'll beat it. Looking ahead takes a little getting used to.

Nice video!

Awesome videos

The Lime Creek Rd. / Volente Dr. route is incredibly addicting. I think I rode it literally every weekend from July to December. You will definitely see more motorcyclists when the weather gets warmer.

Here are some other fun (albeit short) road segments very near there that you should consider vlogging on:

RM 2222 (especially between Mopac and 360)
Spicewood Springs north of 360
Mt. Bonnell Dr. from 35th St. to RM 2222

Be safe and have fun

This whole week is supposed to be great weather, upper 60s low 70s so tomorrow I've got a 50 mile ride planned out. Down Spicewood Springs, to City Park road, then over to Lime Creek Road and then home.
I'll definitely record some more of Lime Creek Road this time, it will be sunny out so the camera will pick up it's sexiness much better this time.

Very Cool I did a quick run through Lime Creek Rd. this afternoon, and road conditions are the best I've ever seen (very little gravel and no more loose asphalt on the repaved section).

I've never heard about City Park Rd, but it looks like fun! Looking forward to the video.

Dang dude! I'm sorry about your accident! I guess I was wrong about the gravel, but I'm glad you're okay. After reading your ride report, I don't think I'll feel safe riding in my textile riding pants.

How fast do you think you were going when you went down? Do you remember if the front or rear wheel locked up?

I think I was going about 30 mph or so but I was quickly decelerating. I'm pretty sure the front wheel locked up and slid out since I was on the brakes pretty hard. It all happened so fast that I didn't have time to release the brake and try to straighten out.

As for textile pants, yeah..never trusting them now. They ripped right through and then also through the layer of mesh underneath the main layer. Pretty disappointing since I've had these pants less than a month and payed a good bit for them. I now have a nice bloody and swollen knee.
My leather boots on the other hand are scuffed like crazy but not even very deep. They did their job. I noticed earlier after I took them off that some of the little metal eyelets that the laces go through have been smushed/ ripped apart. Kinda crazy.

Glad you are OK!
Now road conditions will be drilled into your brain permanently and you will slow down next time you see slippery stuff!
Also anybody tailing you don't speed up and ride over what you think is a safe speed. Let them by or just pretend they are not there and ride your ride! They will pass you when they get a chance!

i feel bad cause i told you to go to that road and now this happened. Like everyone says, there are two types of riders, those that have been down and those that will go down. I happen to be the same rider as you, one who has went down. Just keep you head up and dont stop riding.

haha no worries dude. I really like it and plan to go down it constantly as soon as I can ride again. It's really not the road itself, just my foolishness when trying to turn off of it. I've gotta admit though, those first two turns felt great. I was going fast and was way leaned off the bike. I can't wait to buy some knee slider leather pants.

well, i have read some reviews from texasmotorcycleroads.com, I believe thats the name, that the road has gotten some bad reviews because of gravel on it and patchwork done to the surface. But if you say the road condition is pretty good, then i might have to make a trip down there once your moto is up and going again.

It's 3:30am and my roomie's asleep so I just watched your vid without sound, but looks like you might benefit from Kim's fairing bolt template here:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9814

Only caveat is there's a couple missing but it's easy to 'fill in the blanks':
-One 4mm fairing bolt on each side of the tail
-One 5mm mounting bolt for each side of the front cowling, concealed behind the cowling lowers
-The two bolts around the pillion seat lock

Haha. I think that confuses me more than anything. I just write down where I took the screws from and how many I should be putting back then draw a circle around them. If I wanted to get really fancy I could buy some sort of craft box and label each container in it but that's too much work. I'm lazy :P

yeah, i have to agree with what you said that LCR after reading reviews on it too and i think that its too used of a road and its not well taken care of, we need to find some different roads.

Good job on rapping, lol

Good to see you're back on the saddle.

I was out at LCR on Saturday afternoon and it was drier than it was in your video. The loose asphalt on the repaved section sucks but it is much better than it was last year; hopefully it will be mostly cleared off by later this year. Also, they really need to mark the downhill 90deg left turn at 5:06 with one of those yellow decreased speed limit signs. I now know to expect it, but my first few times through there I had to brake into the turn.

I also checked out City Park Rd. and some of the surrounding roads near emma long park after seeing it on the route you posted previously. The road is quite twisty and the pavement was clean and smooth. There is more residential development in the area and the speed limits are lower, but it was still a lot of fun.

haha yeah that turn made me nervous for second there. The main problem is that i wasn't prepared for it to be so sharp so I was closer to the inside of the lane than was necessary

yeah, i almost made the ride to a friends house but decided against it. They came and picked me up instead. The cage was in on jackstands awaiting me to replace the ball joints.
