hello there, im from indonesia,

this is the same bike as the first post , but its now with injection (EFI) system + programmable ECU standalone
and its all custom made from injection system to turbo installation even standalone we assembly by our workshop in indonesia
and this module was very complete from fuel mapping, timing , boost/turbo module, injector dutycycle, and all of engine sensor, even it ready have NOS module if u want to use NOS.

in first post in youtube, its still use carb , stock carb. and the result is far far from now on . my ninja got 58.2 hp on wheel @dynodynamic , boost at 0.75 bar
very significant from stock Ninja250 26-27 hp on wheel

boost spool around 5000 rpm - 14000 (limiter)

Link to original page on YouTube.

nb.
oh yeah , its my friend before who test my bike in front of wrkshop, sorry for him if he didnt wear any safety

Well Welcome to the forum. That is a spectacular horsepower number. I wish you could come to America. You could set and very high Land speed record with that much horse power. I estimate the speed at 130 mph. Well over 200 KPH.

Congratulation on getting that to work.
What Clutch are you using . Is it the stock clutch ? or have you modified it to hold the power. I found the stock clutch slipped at 40 hp.

Dude, before investing in a turbo.... buy a helmet.

You are very talented, it would be a shame to loose you. At least till you get that to market and I buy one... lol

well.. hello guys
nice to know u all anyway

and sorry for my 'not so good' english, but i think its ok since u understand what i said

@racer X
yeah i think like that too , my sprocket ratio still stock, oh no.. i have down the rear gear to 43 from stock 45, but it still too fast to 6th gear.. 400-500 meters and its 6th , its about 190ish KPH

maybe i should change to heavier ratio..

@CZroe
thanks alot bro. u're welcome..

@Cab305
hahahahah ... yeah thats for sure, a helmet, a good one helmet.
and yeah we are trying to make another turbo kit, that will be easier and eficient to apply in order to give a chance to another Ninja 250R's owner one of the best value performance upgrade for their bike.

because i think in my country especially, there're many ways to make this bike has a better performance, from only jetting, branded exhaust system, racing card i.e sudco, even bore up pistons,cam, CDI/TCI, many more.. and for sure they must pay a relatively big number of money .. but still ... their power output not as big as turbo-ed with only stock 250 cc No bore up.

and for reminder, my ninja still has drivability as good as common stock Ninja 250, , it has a normal idle, good traffic drivability stop n go

oh yeah sorry forgot.
right now i still use a brand new stock clutch with helios black spring , and for sure it still slipped a little, but later will try some branded clutch for more optimum performance.

even at dyno sheet , in middle rpm,u can see theres a down curve on boost curve , its slipping. normally , that curve should raise smooth until peak rpm. no 'downhill' or flat curve.. thats the real performance. real power.

@ithaca00
longevity , basicly if we know what we're doing ,its just fine. let say , in order too keep a durability of stock engine part , we dont do over boost, we dont set the limiter higher than stock, we make a lower compression (its only 8.2:1, stock is 11.6:1 ) ,

if we want to make a bigger power with stock part , we can, just make a bigger boost , many more. but we must pay with longevity, it will ruin fast.
thats mean we dont know what we're doing.

btw in my calculation, if theres a branded low comp forged pistons i.e JE,Wiseco for this bike, and a better conrod than stock
we can boost this engine until 1.3 bar ( about 17-18 psi), and the power will be around 90ish -100 hp on wheel , with only 250 cc . i think its really cool

Thank you very much. Yes you need a heavy gear .
I guess the next thing after getting the power is controlling the power. Getting 75 to 100 hp will definitely hurt the engine. But not like you would think .Properly set up the engine could make that kind of power for a good amount of time. (2 passes at Bonneville in all I want) But any mistake or change in tuning will result in a broken engine. The more power we make the smaller the margin of error.

Keep us posted, but from what I can see .That is the documented top power output of a 250 ninja.I cant wait to see what I get with nitrous when I got to the dyno.

OMG dude. If there was a kit out, I would TOTALLY rock a turbo'd 250 making 55hp to the wheel before I bought a 650! Even if it wasn't quite a fast.... I mean... it's freaking turbo!

Awesome work!!!

Haha yeah if it included everything (like the clutch spring and pistons and rods and full exhaust, etc), then yeah $2000 would be pretty unlikely haha, though I'd go get a loan tonight to get one at that price. Any higher and I think you'd have trouble getting it to sell in the states. But if it is $3500 for a COMPLETE kit to turn a stock bike into a 50rwhp machine, finding a good deal on an '08 for $2000-$2500 and thus spending $5500-$6000 total would be a lot of fun and IMO pretty worthwhile for a tinkerer.

I can understand the thrill of having a turbo'd vehicle. I own one. That being said, consider how much you're already talking about. $5500 will get you a really nice late model 600cc super sport. You also wouldn't need to tinker with electronics and tuning. Also consider the fact that most, if not all, turbos are oil cooled. You would also need some system to create a pressurized oil system for the turbo. Add in the Intercooler, extra piping, and turbo and the power to weight ratio still won't beat a 600 super sport.

I wonder if the turbo'd bike here is using the stock fuel system.

just my 2 cents. I prefer reliability over being faster than the next guy.

Note that I said "for a tinkerer," meaning for someone who likes to tinker just for the sake of tinkering. In this case, taste and personal excitement are the key factors over simply being faster than the next guy.

I also come from a turbo vehicle background: two MR2s, one of which rocked a T4 turbo strapped to an upped-compression built engine . I actually sold the second one after never driving it once I got the Ninjette.

And he is using a megasquirt ECU / fuel injection, according to the posted video.

hi all, ..

@racerX
wow , is it really u will use NOS for your bike. lets share then ..thats cool

oh yeah i wonder what type of Ninja 250 in here ? is it injection already or carb?

in my country all ninja250 carb , i have done turbo carb just like first video, but its not reliable especially with vacum type carb CVK.. its sucks
maybe if we use sudco CR , it will go better but still .. not as good as injection with programmable ecu.

so in my bike, the hardest part in this project is convert from carb to injection system., we must set the trigger for ignition, set all wiring etc.

Yes the exchange of information will help everyone.

Yes the pick up trigger is the biggest problem . The ignition pick up from the ninja 250 will not communicate with a power commander or the megasquirt computer. What did you use? The megasquirt trigger wheel? How did you mount it? are you getting interferince form the charging system?

I was able to use the stock pick up with BRT_Tis ignition with a carb .But that will not work to fire the fuel injectors.

For nitrous I have the CR carbs . I did not want the slides to drop when the nitrous sprays. So I got rid of the CV carbs.

Yes injection is the only way . Do you have an intercooler?

yap, the biggest problem is that trigger,

i dont know exactly about that, because it was my buddy job on applying the megasquirt , all i know he modify the magnet, made a new trigger on that .. and done .. im just on engine mechanic aspect

about intercooler, yes, im using that , it must a little enough intercooler, so it didnt make turbo spool too late ..

just like this, its my intercooler, i dont know what car use that. i got from my local junkyard anyway.

You gotta have an adjustable fuel and ignition system if you are going to make a turbo 250. I was kinda waiting for an FI 250 version so I could build a turbo .But the reality is I would replace the whole system anyhow. It is the trigger I cant get past. I was going to mount an external trigger wheel with a seal on the stator cover. But I would like to see what they did.

Good start. The size of the turbo is critical.

You should start a new thread. Keep all of your turbo development in one place. I don't think you want the first six pages of your turbo build to be the fail thread of the week. Post up photos and stuff as you go along. That way these rediculus threads can die and stay dead.
