--- My Mirror Solution ---
This is what I have been using on my bikes for a couple of years. Works great with no blind spots at all. Cost under $20 dollars and easy to do.
Picked up these mirrors at Autozone. You'll need two of each. (Make sure to use the correct 360 rotating kind, there are some that just pivot but they don't work as well since they move when you hit bumps.) Picture 071.jpg Got these shims at Home Depot. Get the ones that are not wood. You will need only the fat ends of two, a little over 1/4 of a inch. Also you will need some good double sided tape and some Crazy-glue. (The tape in this is just to show the size of the shims and is not used.) Picture 005.jpg Cut a 1 inch square and attach to the narrow side of the 360 mirror. (As seen on the left of picture.) Cut 1/4 inch off of the shims with a razor-knife wrap three sides with the double sided tape. This now goes on the thick side of the 360 mirror. Peal the backing off the big mirror and attach as shown. Now attach the whole thing to the inside of the bikes mirror. Picture 002.jpg For extra measure I put some Crazy-glue on the tape area and the mirror just to be sure it doesn't come off. Blue painters tape to hold it in place overnight. Picture 007.jpg View of my bike in between my cars. My rear tire is touching the line between the concrete and the asphalt of my driveway. (Use this as a reference for the next photos.) Picture 072.jpg The right side mirror. I use the bikes mirror to see behind me and my blind spot mirror to see whats on my side. (In the picture you can see to my porch.) Picture 073.jpg The left side mirror now I can also see behind me and whats on my side. (In the picture you can see past my garage into my yard.) Picture 074.jpg I hope I made this clear to understand. It works great. |

An option but I'll stick with my SW tech mirror extenders... the appearance of this glueon and huge circular mirror just doesn't do it for me...uh uh.

Mo 32....nice inexpensive solution. And really...knowing the prob exists...what would it cost Kawa to mold a covex bubble into the glass?

I don't use my mirrors much. I always just look over my shoulder.

Me too. I find it gives both a better view for me and for others around me since they have a better chance of noticing me looking back at them instead of glancing in the 75% of my mirror that isn't occupied by my elbow or my ass.

I still look over my shoulder before I change lanes. This allows me to see whats going on behind me when i'm just going along. It's also is nice when you are stopped at a light and you can see what's on both sides of you and behind you.

+1 on looking over the shoulder, most the time I only use the mirrors to look behind me when I am at a light...gotta make sure those cagers are actually slowing down.
