If you are going to ride for any real distance in heavy rain a full suit is the only way to go I have never had two piece rain gear that with stood a few hours of heavy rain. Usually comes up under the jacket due to air flow and unless the trousers are of the bib type you get your chest wet. I found my Ninja, a problem as my rain trousers against the tank caught the rain and made a puddle many materials are water proof, but not when you have a weight of water on them for some time.

Thanks Steve. My local shop is telling me that they get great reviews on Frogg Toggs because of their compactness when stored, ease of use, and comfort. Have an opinion on these? Still 2-piece though.

Just so we are clear on the intended use. I would likely have these on my sport touring bike in one of the cases. My typical ride home from work would only about 25 mins but I'd also be using them for the occasional long distance trip when the chance of rain is always unpredictable.

If you are riding for only 25 minutes in rain then two piece will be Ok. Where I live close to the mountains we often get very heavy rain then something like this is what you need.

they test it with a pressure washer from all angles.

Frog Toggs!!!

It all folds up nicely into a little sack and whenever it looks like it's going to rain I just bring the sack along with me.

Not so far...mind you I haven't had the opportunity to ride in a serious rain storm yet. Mostly just prolonged rides in moderate rain fall. Also, some days I go out and purposely get wet haha.

My hands; I generally don't use anything. All of my attempts at wearing waterproof gloves or wearing latex gloves under my riding gloves have all resulted in me getting frustrated....so I just let my hands get soaked haha. The jury's still out on a water resistant glove solution for me.

My Dianese torque boots are apparently water resistant. In all of the rainfalls I've ever ridden in (some of which had fairly large puddles and tons of splashing) my feet have never once gotten wet.

What I have found so far, though, is that if your seat is thoroughly wet, and you sit on it without at least wiping off some of the water, you do get a bit of moisture seepage. It won't soak your pants or anything, but they get kinda damp around the butt area.

Thanks again. All good information.

As far as hand protection... I hear this is one of the better options. http://www.rain-off.com/rdr_cmnt.htm

Another bit of info in case other chime in here. I'm really looking only to cover my current protective gear. I don't really want to buy weather proof protective gear. I just don't have to closet space for more gear.

Had this site recommended from the FJR Forum to purchase them.

Frog Toggs. I'm wearing 'em today. They fit over your current gear, and don't take up much space. Also, overboots help if your footgear isn't waterproof.

Overboot??? Could you share a link on what you use? I'm looking for a compact option so when I'm 2-up I can carry for both.

I bought a Firstgear rain jacket and pants years ago (can't remember the model but I think it was the most expensive one they had). Even though I have a waterproof jacket and pants the rain gear is always in the truck/tailpack. I've ridden through hellacious rainstorms on LD rides and I've never gotten wet. I also have the Aerostich triple digit rain gloves and they're the bomb.

I love the Firstgear jacket I purchased years ago. Maybe I need to check into their rain gear too.

Question so we are clear. Are you talking about a full protective jacket or just and over type jacket and pants?

Thanks

The Firstgear rain jacket and pants go over my regular riding gear. Normally my regular gear is fine for light rain.
