How Old are You?

Seems like a "mature' crowd in here. Just curious how old the majority is on this site.

So, vote for your age bracket... No cheating!!

I'm a know-it-all/invincible 22 year old.

Nah, I'm not really invincible. But yes, I do know everything. Therefore, anything I think and say is, by definition, fact.

Which Age?

Kelly did you mean biological age, age when we swing a leg over our machine, or how old we feel when were riding?

I will be 67 in February and have had a motorcycle since 1958. Do I win oldest today and ridden longest?

biological... if I were asking for mental age, the poll doesn't go down young enough.

Yes, you do... but you'll have to come to Hawaii before you can claim your prize.

Ah - another seasoned mind I can relate to. Remember, we're only as young as we think.

Kelly I think I'll claim the oldest "newbie" title. Seems like I've had the Ninja a lot longer than 3 months but that's all it has been. Time does fly when you are having fun with your friends.

Wait a minute - don't other people hear other voices all the time when they are riding. You know the one asking questions like what's that idiot going to do, why are those brake lights coming on in the next block, can I make that light?

Post Old Newbie

Old Man, I got my Ninja in June. As you know, I have been riding for a long time. Well, when I got this bike, the dealer had misplaced the Owner`s Manual, so the only thing I got was a so-so orientation to the bike. I felt like a total baloonfoot the first few days. This was my first bike without a kickstarter. The shift lever was on the Left and was one down and five up. On my last bike it was on the Right side and was one up and three down. With the brake on the Left. I also never had a bike with directional lights. That took some getting used to. Of course the most embarassing thing was that I did not know about the kickstand safety switch. Invariably I would put the bike in gear with the stand down, and it would stop running. I would then crank the starter and flood the engine. Another Kawa owner on a 600cc told me about that infernal device--and then there was the time my bulky gloves turned off the kill switch while leaving a traffic light. That was real slick. Believe it or not, I am now very comfortable with the bike. I still don`t like the rear tyre (Dunlop) It is too squirrly. The mirrors were not adequate--so I changed them. On the overall, it is a great bike. I don`t think there is a 250 around that can come close. Right now I am learning the maintenance aspects of this bike, and have found this forum absolutely fantastic. I got the Owner`s Manual a week later and found after reading it that I learned very little.

Well this is my first bike and I know exactly what you mean. One thing I did that I have never regretted was taking the MSF course before I even bought the bike. I wanted to make sure this was something I really wanted to do and my road bike skills would transfer. So far my only ah **** has been to run out of gas two blocks sooner than I planed. Got on the reserve and into the station but it was embarrassing to say the least.

Have a great Thanksgiving and ride safe.

Old Guy, I had thought of taking the MSF course as a refresher. One of the guys we ride with is an MSF instructor. When he recently saw me take a corner with my knee about 6" off the pavement, he didn`t think that I needed the handling portion of the course. I do think that I will take it in the spring. They use Buell Blasts in the course. I tried one out before I decided on the Ninja and was totally unimpressed. The thing shakes like a thrashing machine. It should be OK for the course.

I'm 18 right now. Been riding street since 17. Turn 19 in June. Picked up my 2008 250R Oct 16, but it's currently put away for the winter. Got around 300 miles of riding on it before we put it away. $3000 for it with 695 miles. I was pretty excited. :P
