-----------------

Casey Stoner has topped the second session of free practice in the early evening of Qatar, the Repsol Honda man once again waiting until the end of the session to turn up the pace, deposing the Yamaha men from the top of the timesheets. Until that point, the timesheets had been dominated by Jorge Lorenzo, with Cal Crutchlow also putting in a brief appearance at the top.

Despite being demoted to 2nd, Lorenzo is still the only man to get close to Stoner, the Spaniard falling just short of Stoner on his final lap. The factory Yamaha rider leads a Yamaha charge, with Monster Tech 3 Yamaha's Andrea Dovizioso in 3rd, just ahead of Ben Spies on the second factory Yamaha. Pramac Ducati's Hector Barbera was the fastest Ducati rider, getting a tow of Karel Abraham to set the 5th fastest time, ending ahead of Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa. Pedrosa's session was interrupted halfway through, when the Spaniard took a tumble, walking away unhurt.

Factory Ducati rider Nicky Hayden ended the session in 7th, ahead of Cal Crutchlow, the Tech 3 rider being passed by a number of riders in the final few minutes. LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl ended the session in 9th, ahead of Valentino Rossi, who continues to struggle. Colin Edwards won the battle of the CRTs, just edging Randy de Puniet in the final minutes of practice.
