Soon I'm gunna be buying a rear stand for my bike so I can start doing all the work for myself cause thats more fun and shops prices are ridic. Ive seen some online for about 60 plus 20 for shipping and some at some actual stores selling for 120. If anybody has any experience with one that has been pretty good (or more importantly bad) id be very :D to hear it. Dont wanna spend too much but I want a quality piece, so I guess like top out a 100 after everything is said and done? I want one thats easy to use...if others are more so than their counterparts...and id prefer one thats easy to store. I saw some that were able to collapse...but Im not sure if this is out of my price range...thanks!

I've got no experience with anything but Pit Bull. Not sure if you can pick up a new rearstand for $100, but if you keep your eyes open on craigslist or other bike boards they come up for sale from time to time.

There are some pics of Pit Bull and another rear stand in this thread (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9810), not sure which make Kkim's bike is lifted on.

Was checkin out the pit bull stands on their website and was just wondering...does our bike have spools or do I have to get a stand that uses the swing arm? I would check but the bike is 1200 miles away right now haha

I also have a Pitbull. I had intended to not spend so much, but after feeling the quality of the Pitbull compared to some of the stands my friend had (which he spent about $80 on I think, and you had to bend them to fit your swingarm width ), I didn't hesitate to get it.

I paid $140 for a new one, if you are patient you can find them used though, and they are still just as good. The guy at the shop told me that he has had his for 15 years, and it still is perfectly fine.

The bike has the threaded bungs to put in spools, but they are not there from the factory. They are 10mm spools (thread size) in case you are looking for some.

The pitbull can be used with spools or flipped to be used right on the swingarm.

So will any 10mm spool work for our bike...found some vortex ones(10mm) but they asked for my bike model for fitment and the 250 was not there :(

read this thread, posts 16 and 17...

my stand is a Heindl rear combo stand... not to be confused with Hindle.

http://www.newenoughhp.com/track_garage/motorcycle_stands__lifts/heindl_engineering/sportbike_motorcycle_rear_combo_stand.html

with stands, you start out w/ pitbulls at the top and as you work your way down, you sacrifice quality and stability. choose where you want to get off according to your wallet. :)

I would caution that a rear stand supports your baby. Make sure you are confident that you are buying a sturdy, well made stand no matter how bare your wallet may be. Perhaps you should wait to save up the extra dollars it takes to buy a well made one, if price is a concern?

The only reason that price was a concern was just the fact I didnt wanna get ripped off since I didnt know anything about the rear stands. I dont like going to someplace and asking a sales person because its their job to sell you the most expensive thing and most arent really looking out for the customer. I think I'm more educated now and im not gunna skimp on quality. Thanks guys...lots of help as always:thumbup:

I have decided to go the Flyncycle.com route. For $106 I can get a front and rear stand as a set. Since the bike is not that heavy, they should work fine. If they are not stable enough, I can always weld in some braces--new winter toy: Miller arc welder found used, real cheap.

A quick note on the spools! It didn't happen to me, but some people's spools have too large an OD on them and contact the swing-arm and consequently have to be slightly ground down to make them fit. So if you can ensure before you buy a spool that the OD of the side that attaches to the bike isn't too large you'll save yourself from having to do grinding on them :p

Well I can't find any batteries  as I was going to take a quick picture of them installed. You're going to need to get some little spacers (from any hardware store) as that littttle lip on those isn't sufficient. You need about 1/2" of a lift to clear the swing-arm. (unless maybe they are included, but not shown in that picture?

You guessed it! They're not shown in the picture. The bolts are actually about 1/2" longer and 2 cylindrical aluminum spacers are included. Unfortunately, no installation instructions were included.

I got the pit bull online from Oneida Suzuki for $145 shipped

MODEL: SS REAR STAND #F-0028 $115.99 1 $115.99
Subtotal: $115.99
Shipping cost: $28.96
Total: $144.95
For spools, I got the OES ones here:
http://www.oesaccessories.com/08-09Ninja250R.html - they were like $23 shipped....
http://www.oesaccessories.com/sitebuilder/images/NewKawasakiSpool-600x306.png

I can't say enough good things about the pit bull - never have I felt unstable on it - even when sitting onthe bike while lifted.

I put these on my bike and i had to file down the spacers so that they would sit flush with the swingarm side. It wasn't too much work. Also got the rear and front triple tree stand from them.

If these are the ones you are talking about,

http://images.parts-unlimited.com//images/catalogs/Street/2008/products/display/e1f78571-836a-4adf-85e6-2c592154edf1.jpg

they fit. No need to worry.

I bought the Trex rear stand and spools as well. I might have to cut that aluminum spacer in half so the end of the spool is flushed with the swingarm. Right now with the spacers installed these suckers stick way out....and without the spacer the spool does not clear the swingarm.

Along a similar note: do you guys keep your spools on all the time, even in the spring/summer? or only during winter storage?

As are mine. Just make sure you use threadlocker or you will lose them.
