I recently acquired a tail bag which works great for me and fits well and easily on the bike. The only issue is, is I've noticed it's already beginning to rub the paint off (not just scratch) where its straps touch. Especially where the plastic quick connects are. Does anyone have any solutions to this? It's on plastic, obviously, so I'm not worried about rust, but it would be nice to keep it looking nice as long as I can.

Yea, you want some of this blue no slip cloth (found in the kitchen/home goods ares of wal-mart) and some velcro tape.

Put some tape on the back in the areas that touch. Cut patches of blue cloth and attach tape to those too. Velcro the blue stuff to your bag and put on your bike.

You don't have to use the blue cloth, other fabrics may work just as well.

Simple and reversible.

I never take mine off my bike. So far I've never had any problem with it on the bike full time.

I never know when I'll need to carry anything.

Clear bra material FTW! You can find some other brands that are cheaper online. I picked up some small patches for $5 shipped for my car roof rack a little while back.

Only issue is that you'll notice where the edges of the material are after a little while, wax and dirt build up. Pull it off, and it should look like new though.

Stick a cheap synthetic chamois under the bag where the straps meet the paint, should be in any car shop, think I picked up 2 for 60p or something

Thanks for the ideas guys. I may look into that 3M stuff in the future. For now, I've taken some of that grippy stuff csmith mentioned, and put velcro on the buckle and on the material and it seems to hold well. :thumbup:

I have been wondering about this, since I am on the cusp of picking up the Kriega US-20 to eliminate the need to wear a backpack every damn day. How did your method work out? Any scratches at all?

You could put a few layers of blue painters tape on the area of contact.
