View Full Version : Hindle Exhaust?

I have seen posts on almost EVERY other exhaust. Yosh, Area P, Muzzy, Two Bro's... You name it.

I haven't seen a video or review of the Hindle exhaust at all. I'm just wondering if anyone has put one on their 250R.

I had a Hindle Supersport Carbon fibre on my old 600F2 and it sounded and looked great.

I was looking at the hindle oval in CF or black anodized with the euro style tip. Looks really sharp.

Well, turns out no one has purchased one so I took it upon myself to take it upon myself to check it out! Give some feed back.

This is my 6th exhaust I've ever purchased for a bike.

I've bought Yoshimura, Hindle, and Two Bro's before.

I have always loved Yosh quality and sound but the price was a little much for the current budget. So the hindle was VERY affordable in comparison. ($400 vs the $700 for the Yoshimura.... in Canadian $.) The two bro's was nice but after looking at pics of it on the net it didn't really suit the bike in my opinion. In the end I wanted to buy the Hindle oval pipe in black anodized with the Euro tip. See pic:
http://www.hindle.com/images/EURO.jpg

Due to a mix up I ended up getting the standard tip.. but still black anodized and oval. It is the so called "supersport" core, which is 2" straight through. The alternative is the "stealth" core, which has a taper from 2" to 1.75".

I thought I would post a few pics here now just to give you an idea of how it looks. I cannot post pics of it on the bike because its the wrong one, I'm sending this one back and the bike is in storage.

Without further ado:

The last few pics just show how short it is compared to some other pipes from a CBR250RR.. they are both the same length that came off my 600's.

The hindle has great build quality. The rivets are clean, the laser engraving is a nice touch. Those boys from Canada have made a nice looking pipe. I wish I could tell you how it sounds, but I cannot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xl6LJsQTFw

This video shows a different hindle pipe. But the one thing about hindle is that they only use one of two cores. This pipe is a touch longer but should more or less sound the same as the one I just got.

I will post more pics and a video once I get the PROPER exhaust.

Well folks, I finally got the right exhaust, put it on the bike and I can officially say that it is louder then a straight piped harley. I need to find a db killer of some sort. Also, it generates the most ultimate flat spot from 5 to 9k rpm. Even with the needles shimmed 2 per needle.

throw another shim in there and see if it helps.

Damn, either shimming the needles fixes 90% of any problems with the 250Rs, or kkim owns stock in a washer manufacturer.:D:D:D:D:thumbup:

lol... don't i wish. :)

these bikes are so lean from low to midrange and his exhaust being so loud, might mean it has very little restriction, which in turn might mean it's running even leaner now. trying the washer is cheap and easy. the "right' way would be to buy a jet kit and play with the mixture screws, but that's a lot of work, if you're not familiar w/ rejetting. It's a lot of work even if you are familiar with jetting... hell, rejetting period, is a lot of work to get perfect.... which is why I'm such a "shim the needle" advocate. :D

I find that I have a flat spot most notably in first gear around 4k rpm. Jet or needles? Snorkel removed...

kkim
March 24th, 2009, 05:42 PM
shim your needles. your bike's jetting is stock? didn't you read in the snorkel DIY that you shouldn't pull it without at least shimming the needle?

Maybe I got happy when I started taking the bike apart, ripping stuff off left and right. I could pick your brain for awhile on this bike....

I took the exhaust off the bike because the flatspot is so large it simply cannot be ridden comfortably. I (my fiance) got a short video clip of me riding by with it.

It was taken on my cell, and that really muffles a lot of the volume. The pipe SOUNDS great but is too loud. A buddy of mine is getting me a silencer to try and lower volume this week. Hope it fits. Pipe does look great though. REALLY great.

Video Clip!

Also, I should mention: the bike is 2 shims per needle and snorkle removed.

Thank you.

oh yeah thats REALLY loud:eek: sounds like an open header

Shim the needles three and post back please. I'm interested in the results. Especially after a silencer is installed.

Okay, I've put the pipe back on the bike, cleaned things up a little. Seems to be working good now. I'll try to get some nice pics and video tomorrow.

I bought it from the local Kawi dealer.. who had to special order it from Motovan who is Hindle's Ontario distributer. Apparently it wasn't in the catalogue or anything yet. Either way, I guess its a rare pipe so far but it sounds great now that I got it all sorted. good proper seal at the elbow where it was leaking before. A lot of people say it sounds like a TL1000R or RC51. I think they are being imaginitive but it does have a nice DEEP race-like grunt to it now.

Some pics.. not of our bike or pipe but enough to get the general idea:

The pipe I got is the anodized black aluminum.. here is a pic of the same pipe on a CBR125:

http://www.hindle.com/images/CBR125.jpg

It looks really sharp on the green ninjette.

I said I would post pics but I was doing some wiring around my house and didn't get time. I will tomorrow!! Promise!!

A video of the pipe.. I recorded using my cell phone, hence the TERRIBLE TERRIBLE audio. Infact, it makes the pipe sound terrible. I will try to borrow a proper video camera sometime and re-record the video so the pipe doesn't sound near as brutal.

Regarding the sticker in the windshield, my fiance rides this bike. I only take it out once in a blue moon.

So did you end up with the stealth or supersport muffler?

I ended up with the supersport, but if I was to buy it again, I would probably go with the stealth pipe. Everyone says they love the way it sounds but I think its a touch on the loud side.

Maybe I'm just getting old? :D

That's what I was wondering. I've been wanting the Hindle, but haven't heard it on a 250 until yours. Thanks for being the guinea pig!! I want it to be a LITTLE louder, but I dont want to wake up the neighborhood at 7am either! Sounds good on there. Is it a 14" can? I was told by Hindle that a 16" would be just a slight bit quieter. I was thinking of going with the carbon stealth in 16" with the traditional end cap.

Hindle exhaust for Ninja 250R (http://www.hindle.com/SpecialMufflers.html#EURO)

Interesting to know that the 250R exhaust seems to be the same as the CBR125R.

Ordered mine today. Carbon can was $405, slip-on adapter was $100. Got it from Street and Competition. They're the ONLY U.S. dealer for Hindle. They told me E.T.A. is about 3-4 weeks.

I think they sound better than anything else I've heard. Build quality seems to be very good as well.

The standard size is a 14" can. Those prices sound about right. Hindle is a Canadian company. They are quite popular here in Canada, infact this is my 4th Hindle pipe now that I think about it. My F4i and my 250R both have Hindles right now. Maybe the whole Canadian thing is the reason why there is only one US dealer.

Wait.....$100.0 for an adapter? Can someone explain this?

The mufflers have a 2" inlet and you have to buy a separate slip-on adapter to use the O.E. header pipe. It uses the factory exhaust clamp to go onto the factory pipe, and uses a spring mount to attatch the adapter to the muffler. I thought it was odd too, since everyone else makes a specific slip-on pipe for these bikes. But, you can use any one of their 2" inlet mufflers with this adapter. The "standard" size muffler that they recommend is a 14". I decided to go with a 16" to get the sound to be a little less obnoxious.

Should sound awesome though. Eveything else I've heard with a Hindle pipe sounded great.

Ok I understand the slip-on needs an adapter.
isnt this the same thing??

Kinda-sorta. The Hindle adapter has a bend in it to straighten out the muffler position from the O.E. pipe. Also it uses spring tension to mount the muffler and the adapter also allows for that. If you just used a straight piece, the muffler would be sticking out at an angle. Plus, there would be no way to secure the muffler to the pipe. The muffler has no pipe sticking out of it on the inlet side. (see Syphen's photos) I'm not sure how it could be mounted without using the proper adapter. I thought it was expensive too for a little piece of pipe, but if you want to run the Hindle pipe, you need their adapter.

Hi, i just installed my new hindle 14" eurotip oval titanium supersport exhaust pipe on my 2010 ninja. I noticed that the mid pipe fits very loosly on the header. It looks like the stock exhaust has a small gasket that makes it fit. Do I need to buy the same gasket the stock exhaust uses to make the hindle fit?

Thanks :)

Hi, welcome to the forum! Yes you do need to use a gasket on the adapter to the stock pipe. I was able to use a pick and work the stock gasket out of the stock muffler and put it in the adapter. If you can't get the original one out, just get a replacement from Kawasaki. Enjoy your Hindle pipe. I love mine, they sound great and look good too. Plus, it's not what everyone else has. :D
