With the 250R becoming more popular, more companies are starting to offer their versions of products. I got this piece purely by luck.

I got an email from Area P saying that I had won a new product they are now offering through a random drawing of their past customers... their new stainless steel exhaust hanger. Damn!! I think this is the first thing I've every won in my life, which as some of you know, has been a comparatively long time. :D

I already have an exhaust hanger that I purchased through another vendor that I posted about here...
http://www.kawiforums.com/showthread.php?t=120986

So, I get the package today and this is what I find... the hanger, stainless steel mounting hardware, installation instructions and stickers! :)

Run outside and compare it to the zartan hanger I currently have on the bike

Install is as simple as removing the previous hanger and installing the AP hanger with their supplied hardware...

Tighten up the 3 bolts and this is the finished product...

AP's hanger only comes in the stainless steel (it has now been updated to include powercoated black), but is paintable. Zartan's comes in both SS and black. In comparing the two, they are of the same thickness of material and support the muffler with the same degree of stability.

It boils down to personal preference and color choice, but it's good to see we owners are starting to see choices.

I'm thinking of mounting dual exhausts like the pre gens so I can use them both... wadda think??? :D

Mahalo to Kerry and family at Area P for the freebie and for making my day. :)

AP has this up on their website if you are interested.

CRXTrek,

How did you fit the brackets on to the stock pipes? I just put my brackets on and there is an inch offset.

It looks like it is flipped based on the above pic and kelly's pic.

I just installed mine a few minutes ago, bike looks much cleaner with both rear foot pegs removed now.

Sorry but to clarify, I mean offset as in it seems like I need an 1 inch thick washer since the bracket bents outward.

Loosen up the clamp that holds the muffler to the header pipe and twist the muffler a little bit to line up the hanger .

his forum name is kbryant. I am sure he can work you through it.

CRX's advise seems sound... give it a try.

kkim... Do you find that the muffler, at idle, begins to move left to right with the stroke of the engine. I've tried to vary the RPM at idle to control it but I'm not really having any luck with that. I'd like a little more support I think so this doesn't happen.

Suggestions, thoughts?

Jason,

I have noticed either of the hangers do not provide as solid a support as the stock setup and does allow the exhaust to "vibrate" a bit. It doesn't bother me and to date has not resulted in any type of problem due to it.

If you do find a solution, please share it with us. :)
