Laides and Gents, I give you, The 500$ Motorcycle. (Plus roughly 300$ in parts/paint, every panel except the front fender and gas tank were damaged on this bike.) *The exhaust and the left mirror are the only things I haven't fixed yet.

This is my wife, riding it for the first time!

Once he gets the right-side fairings mounted maybe? :D

Fixing a bike is a great feeling. I love buying a used-dirty old beat up bike and making it like new again. It can be a money pit, but a sentimental money pit non-the-less.

Off topic, but I just noticed you're from Oxnard. I used to live there while my cousin was stationed in Pt Mugu. I miss the weather there.

Yeah, sorry to get your hopes up guys, but if I am going to take the 'good' pics, I want the lighting to be right so you can get the full effect. I have a Canon 40D and some very expensive lenses to capture it ;P

The bike didn't look that bad. Why was he selling it for $500? He could have parted it out and made way more money on it than that.

BTW, anyone we know? :)

Yeah well, when I say $500 everybody thinks the bike must have been junk, but the story behind it was that it was some kid with a super duper rich dad that basically had no concept of money, he told me that "I just want to get rid of it fast to make room for my new R6" so... I guess you could say I got really... really..really... lucky  and thats why I check craigslist on a daily basis.

I'd kill him if he were my kid!

You did a great job on the bike. How does it run and the most important thing... is the wife happy with it? :D

GreezMunky
January 8th, 2009, 08:05 PM
I don't understand kids like that at all. I used to get whipped if I dropped and shattered a dinner plate.. Much less a $4k+ motorcycle.

Cling
January 8th, 2009, 08:06 PM
Yeah I agree, but without kids like that, how are poor bastids like me supposed to get super cheap bikes for their wives? hehe, so god bless them!

Yeah, shes iffy about it, she wants to go on a ride to decide, she may want me to sell it (and make a few grand profit) so she can buy a horse or something (I know, only 1hp in a horse, no fun!)

^lol

I find it sad that they're upgrading to a 600 after wrecking a 250.

I couldn't agree more. Even though I'm a kid myself, I find that I don't understand other's logic sometimes (if it's even present). I hate to sound like an a**, but I hope he gets a sharp wake up call on that 600, I can't imagine him lasting long on it if he couldn't keep a 250 right side up. It's frustrating for me to see kids like that when I've worked hard for most everything I own, take care of my stuff, and try to make smart decisions. Kids like him give the rest of us a bad reputations. :angry7: Okay, rant over.

Also. very nice bike. The blue is best color, and with those rimstripes and that black, it looks awesome. Job well done.

Great job with the bike! That looks amazing, especially considering what you had to work with!!

If you wanna sell the bike, I would send the kid some "updates" and see if he wants to buy it back for $5k

Nope, Clean/Clear title, now in my name woohoo.

And to everybody else, I tried to keep in touch with him in case he crashed his new R6 and wanted to sell it to me for like 1,000$ lol.

That is a very nice job you have done there and I am sure that you will make a mint off it if you sell her!

I have learnt something about people like that kid, who wreck something like that and then get a bigger bike (and other asses who ride stupidly and dangerously), natural selection will prevail

Jesse, I can see by the pictures that the bike is much happier in the capable hands of someone who can appreciate such a fine machine and do it justice. I suspect that you will be a repeat customer of this spoiled brat until he launches himself into oblivion. You did an incredible job. Stories like yours make my day. I am a bicycle restorer. There are some real works of art out there that should be restored--unfortunately there are some that are too far gone. My dream is to find a Vincent in some barn in the boonies that I could get cheap and is restorable.

Loving the blue bike with the blue rim tape, suits it perfectly. Like Miles, I'm surprised the exhaust held up - still a couple of dints and whatnot but probably still sounds the same.

As for that kid, I wish him the very best in riding the R6 - and hope he don't fall off and go splat!

Awesome find and outstanding work.

Crashing a 250 qualifies you to be rewarded with an r6 (maybe a 50 scoot or a BMX)???? I GUESS there are those that do say you aren't really educated until you have crashed, but I get the impression we aren't talking about educated people here - LOL!

Was it a salvaged title?
