BMW Motorrad enjoys an unequalled dependability record, boasting that a significant number of the bikes they’ve built are still on the road today. However, the brand (despite Reg Pridmore winning the inaugural 1976 AMA Superbike Championship aboard an R90S) has suffered under the pens of performance-oriented journalists who laughed off Bavarian loyalists with literary defamations in the vein of the“pipe and slippers brigade.” Well, no one’s laughing anymore.
