I just got a bungee net to hold a second helmet on the back of my '08. For those that use these, what have you found to be the best way to mount them?

I have the 15"X15" net, but it doesn't want to stretch all the way to the rear peg brackets.

I've been experimenting, and have come up with a solution that will work for caring a helmet, although it may not work for caring some shapes (ie. pizza box). Even if my net were able to reach the rear passenger pegs, it would rub on the tail fairing, and it's important to me to keep my fairings in nice condition.

The trick I used was attaching the front of the net underneath the rear seat.

After I took this picture I moved the net behind the turn signal stocks.

The hooks need to be positioned in a way they don't interfere with the mounting/locking mechanism of the seat.

I replaced the bulky front hooks with a sturdy, low-profile key ring. Placing it over the locking pin on the seat also secures it from slipping backward, which potentially MIGHT not hold your cargo securely. I was happy to find that the rear seat WILL still lock in place with the key ring around the locking pin. :)

I found it best to keep my helmet on the back of the bike, cruising around with just my sunglasses on, just like all the other cool kids are doing these days.

Got a small bungee net. LOVE the thing. I have a pre-gen so I generally just do two hooks under/around the back handle and the other two pairs on the frame just under the fairing.

Held a 16x20 art piece in place with my huge backpack on top of it for a 45 min ride on the freeway. I don't think I'll ever get a tailbag with that as a possibility.
