Here's the ninjette.org member map. To add yourself to the map, just click on the "Add" button in the top right of the map. Enter your ninjette.org username, your location, and your ninjette's color. Location can be just zip code, city/state, or you can click right on the map. You can also upload an image for people to see when they click on your location. Enjoy! If you have added yourself and your username shows on the list on the right, yet it doesn't show you on the map right away, be patient and check back in a few hours. This embedded map is cached on the zeemaps servers for performance reasons, and may not show your most recent marker updates for a while. Please don't re-add yourself multiple times, it doesn't speed anything up, and I need to go in and delete all the dupes manually afterwards. If you keep track of that "change URL" it gives you when you add your marker, you can always come back and update your marker if you choose. If you do lose it, send me a PM and I can retrieve it for you.

There are some great search features with this map. The GeoSearch box in the bottom left is a quick way to enter in a state or similar area, and it will immediately filter results based on that state. If you click the "Search" button in the top right of the map, there are more advanced options to search for markers within a certain distance or by other parameters. :thumbup:

The original members map was hosted on Platial, and it went down for good. (more info here (http://platial.typepad.com/)) The data that was on the site was graciously hosted by geocommons, and I was able to download and archive all of our map data. I had hoped it would be easier to just reload the already existing information, but that turns out to not be the case. Also, we have 4000+ new members since this last map was active, so we have more new members than we had members then! If people need the old information, it is in the attached KML file. Those of you with Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/intl/en/) (free!) can view the KML file directly, it works pretty well!

There's additional information you can add with your change link once you've added yourself. It allowed me to add an audio file that starts playing when you select my member name. I also added an email for any ladies interested after listening... :D

If the users don't remember their change URL when they create an entry, I do need to delete them manually. Don't keep adding yourself if you don't see it right away. :)

Very happy with the participation so far. > 100 entries in less than a single day, and hopefully more and more will continue to stream in. I'll leave the header notification up for at least a week or so (or until growth slows). I'm hoping to see more international markers soon. In just the past month, this site has had at least 50 or more visitors from each of the following countries:

When you create the marker, it gives you a URL that will allow you to come back and edit it later. If you don't keep that URL, I can retrieve it for you, but I will publicly shame you for not reading the instructions in the first place. :)

Weird. I'm not able to see this published map anymore with the Chrome browser, on either a PC or a Mac. Still looks fine on Firefox on either platform. Chrome did just update to 13.X, so I wonder what broke. Anyone else seeing the same issue?

Double weird, the page showed 'map loading', but it didn't, - chrome on a mac -, but, I DID download firefox the other week to view something or other, so tried this map on the firefox browser, and yes, it works !

Yup, I have just "map loading" using chrome on a PC. Works with Explorer...

OK - Zeemaps have updated their code, and it should now work again with Chrome. Good on them for fixing it so quickly. :thumbup: They also seemed to fix the bug where it had blank pages of users in the list view on the right; now there are only as many pages as there are users.

Alex, any way to make that notice disappear? It's on every forum page and I can't get rid of it like other notices such as "our 10,000th user" or whatever they are...

K - it's dismissable at this point. I kinda wish we were getting a little more participation on it; we had it well over 1000 users on the map, when the site was much smaller. We've still not reached 500 users now, which makes it look like there are less of us than there are. Hopefully a few more enter themselves here each day, but if it slows to a crawl, I may pop the message back up there from time to time.

Oooh that was easy! I did register myself on it though. Would be nice if there were a way to make it so you couldn't disable the message until you entered yourself on the map...

The banner notice finally presented me with an "X" today on IE8 at work. Not sure why I didn't have it on my iPhone or other browsers.

It wasn't set to show the X until I changed it yesterday; I wanted to keep the banner up there for a period of time, but added the X yesterday as it had been up for a reasonable while.

It looks like it primarily relies on Flash objects. It appears to try and look the same on devices without Flash, but clearly it's a little glitchy.

Alex, Is there a way to get all the pins to offset each other? They seem to overlap if you put in the exact same thing. Like if 5 members input San Jose, CA we only see one pin instead of 5 in the same region.

Not as far as I can tell. To find out everyone within a certain area, just click search on the map, then click on the map location at the bottom of that advanced search box, and choose within 20 or 30 miles or so from where you click. When you hit search, it will bring up that part of the map, and list all of the people in the right box. Then just click on the usernames and it pops up where they all are. If two or more people happen to be right in the same place, you will still be able to see them individually there depending on whose name you click on.

Oh, I see. Ok I guessssss that's a satisfactory workaround.

I can see you in Chrome. The site we use to do the maps seems to have made some changes. It now groups tags that are close together into one large tag, until you zoom in enough and then it splits them out. But then sometimes you can't see any as it zoomed in too far, so you need to move around or search by name on the right. The delete capability is also broken at the moment. I have an email in to them to let them know about that bug, and will also see if the grouping can be made optional.

Oh I see. I actually had to zoom in to the 20 miles scale for my pin to show...

Alex, does the map give you a breakdown in the number of riders per state or the total # of each color of ninjas. Would be cool to see a breakdown. Sorry if it is available or mentioned already.

Not that I know of; the website that provides the map software is pretty barebones.

Works fine on my ipad, on the embedded map on page one click "full map" it will take you to a page that has the "add" button to add yourself.

Hi Jason - it looks like there isn't an easy way to move markers. All it lets me do is delete existing markers, and then you can create the right marker in the right place. I deleted your old marker, and you should be able to create a new one right away.

Is the blue ninja only available in US? Same with Red. It's all green and black in the east

I just added myself, even though I don't actually own a Ninjette (though I seem to be trying to turn my EX500 into one).

You can enter your forum user profile link (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/member.php?u=#####) as your website to give people an easy way to find your forum info right from the map.

If you need to move your marker, click on your own pin on the map. In the little popup info window, there should be a "Relocate" arrow in the lower right that will let you drag it to a new location. When I changed my address info, it also asked me if I wanted to update the pin's location based on that.

I think the computer choked, it only loaded Beedub and everyone in Vegas when i first pulled it up, but opening ZeeMaps itself loaded the rest of the state.
