I just got to thinking that one of these 'bra' things might be a good thing for Tyke.. (not that she is sagging or anything) I am just finding more dings and scratches on her tank that I think would be avoided if I got the cover.

I had seen it on Alex's (both of them really) bike but as one is an new gen ninja and the other was a 'bigger brother' to a 250 I wasn't sure if they made one.

Now i could go looking for one but I wanted to know first if anyone had tried one on the older gen ninjas.... or if they even make them.

Hi Sunny -

They sure do make a tank bra for the 1st-gen's. In fact, it's nicer than the one they make for the 2nd-gen's. I own both, and I don't have the 2nd-gen on any more because the mounting system blows and it keeps coming off if you put any pressure on it with your legs while riding. On the 1st-gen the mounting is much more secure and I never gave it a second thought once it was on the bike. Here's a direct link where you can order it from:

I believe Lockhart Phillips and Targa make tank bras for the earlier bikes.

Kelly, If you know someone with a sewing machine, have them stitch a strip of Velcro 2" above the bottom of the "Bra" Put a mating strip at the base of the tank (self adhesive), and the slipping problem id eliminated.

So how does it attach to the bike? It doesn't say.

It has 2 or 3 small cloth flaps that have bendable metal strips in them; they fold up to hold it under the lip of the bottom of the gas tank. Piece of cake to install, and it stays put.

I've been debating getting a cloth type tank protector to but I dont think I'd wanna take it off every time I wash my bike. I used to have a bra on a car of mine and I slacked on cleaning underneath it when ever I washed my car.Well one day I decided to actually remove it before a wash and I found everything under the sun in there. The worst part was the car was scratched to hell from the accumulation. so a word of advice is be prepared to remove any non film/non-adhesive tank protector periodically for cleaning.

I think a car bra gets more stuff under it than a motorcycle tank bra. I take my tank bra off approximately never, even while cleaning, and they have been spotless underneath when I removed the bra for a detail before selling the bikes 3 or 4 years later. Not saying it couldn't happen, just saying that it hasn't happened on any of my bikes.

Ordered mine today! whoo hoo!

My friend's mother does embroidery work (has a machine) and he is going to see if she will do a design for me! That would be so cool!
