Im no scientist so I don't believe one theory over the other because I myself have not conducted experiments( Mainly cause I'm a 20 year old college student majoring in economics and political science and want to stay away from test tubes and the sort) but I do not see how any person with common sense can argue that putting CO2 and other gases and chemicals into the air is good. Yes these chemicals were there to begin with but we are putting more into the atmosphere then naturally occur...and you cant change one part of a system without it changing the system as a whole. So I for do not know the consequences of our actions...will we all join Kkim in island paradise(Or my home wash away in southern florida) or will we all freeze the death like many in the North East and Mid West are doing now. I do not know this answer but doing what we are doing to our planet will have some adverse affect on it in one way or another. Just my opinion though.

Short of nuclear holocaust, I don't see how humanity could have any lasting effects on this planet.

Besides, every statistic touted by the global warm... errr anthropogenic climate changeoligists keeps getting debunked.

Will we all be living in an island paradise like kkim real soon? Unfortunately, I don't think so. It just started snowing in the DC area.

climate change is CAUSED by global warming... it doesn't mean well all live in tropical weather... dunno why people still take the term literally...

I do know you can manipulate data until you get the results you want. Take what is presented with a grain of salt. It's good to be aware, but I doubt it's as dire as argued, though they are certainly entitled to their opinions (political careers).

FWIW, here's my 2 cents. Probably worth at least a cent and a half.

It's pretty clear the the global temperature goes up and down over time. Ice age. Non Ice Age. And everything in between. Would happen with or without man, and will happen long after us. So the question: "Are we in a warming stage right now?" is something that isn't easy to answer, but it's easier to answer than "are humans directly or indirectly causing this warming?". I'll let the scientists deal with the first question first, and get to the second question later.

Even if it turns out that yes, the globe is in a warming stage now, and no, humans aren't doing much or anything to cause that, I disagree with folks who take that thinking to its extreme and believe that humans have zero effect on the environment, so why worry about it as much as we are (or some are). At a local sense, all someone has to do is look at the Hudson River, or the river in Cleveland, or any Superfund site, or the Alaskan coastline, or any of the larger rivers where dams are put into place, or the smog in Beijing (or LA, or anywhere else). It's irrefutable that we can screw up our local environment without even trying too hard. With that in mind, it may be wishful thinking to believe that the environment itself is so large that we can't have a large effect on screwing it up in total.

This is such a touchy subject. All I can say is all the celebraties (including Mr. Gore) are so worried about "Global Warming" that they have changed their living habits. No wait, they just want us to do that, it's beneath them to give up jets, limo, castles, and a comfy way of life. Mr Gore's house in TN uses more energy than the local town there. No wait , he buyes carbon credits (on the tax payer) so he's cool, but the rest of those celebraties are still on the hook.

I have to say that all motorcycle riders are doing their part. No wait, not the Harley guys. No wait, I ride a Harley too.


Well if there is "Global Warming" I will travel up north more often, it's too cold there for me most of the time.

Select many other baselines, for example, compared o the 1930s, or 1000 A.D. -- or 1998 -- and it is presently cool. Cooling does paint a far more frightening picture, given that another ice age would be truly catastrophic, while throughout history, warming periods have always ushered in prosperity. Maybe that’s why the greens tried “global cooling” first.

The claim that the 1990s were the hottest decade on record specifically targets the intellectually lazy and easily frightened, ignoring numerous obvious factors. “On record” obviously means a very short period, typically the past 100+ years, or since the end of the Little Ice Age. The National Academies of Science debunked this claim in 2006. Previously rural measuring stations register warmer temps after decades of “sprawl” (growth), cement being warmer than a pasture.

I do understand the concept. ( not actual warming -just change)

if by some chance it is actually "warming" and we get to live in kkims world, then by all means "FIRE UP THEM 2- STROKES"

Most Int view on global warming I've read/heard from anyone in awhile. I feel the same way. I get so tired of people getting all fired up over one side of the argument whenever they watch a new Youtube video.

I have great difficulty giving Global Warming a lot of credibility. We have had a week of sub zero temperatures and are now experiencing the low 20`s as highs during the day. Of course it is clear and the sun is bright. It`s just very cold and the price of oil heat is a touch high. Al Gore means well--after all, he invented the internet.

Climate change isn't the same as global waming.

Global warming is the idea that the average global temperature is getting higher over time, which it has been (proof by data). This higher temperature may or may not be attributed to human causes, as argued in this thread.

Many scientist are not arguing the fact of global warming, but global climate CHANGE. The atmospheric concentration of CO2 in 2005 was 379 ppm³ compared to the pre-industrial levels of 280 ppm³. Thermodynamics tells us that CO2 is much more easily heated than the normal atmosphere gases (such as nitrogen, oxygen, and argon). Global climate change isnt just warming in certain areas, but cooling in others. By agreement of close to 300 of the worlds leading scientists, global climate change is expected due to the rising amounts of CO2. This means some cold places will get colder, warm places will get warmer, dry places will get dryer, etc... and this is all on AVERAGE, not exactly what is happening at this moment in your home town.

Want more facts? Listen to the people that know, not politicians, or the media.. but listen to those scientists that know more than both you an me. Or.. challenge me and find a reliable scientist that goes against this basic idea.
