Twisted Throttle supplied the SW-motech 08 Ninja 250 rear rack, a quick release adapter to a 50l Astra CooCase top box, a back rest pad for a passenger and I found my favorite discontinued magnetic tank bag from Cortech via Ebay at a bike dealership cheap too.

Ready to hit the road and travel a bit.

Sweet! I wouldn't pick a ninjette for a sport tourer though :D

I've been thru 2 ZZR1200s in the last decade. The 300s ability to be rung out without breaking 150 MPH on secondary roads is a great quality. My last bike was a KTM 950SMR, it too was too easily flogged beyond "sporting" speeds for the street.

You can't confuse the 300 with the 250 either. Despite sharing many parts, size and feel, they are totally different bikes. My son has a 2012 250 parked next to mine, night and day, especially tweaked a bit and 40ish RWHP.

dyno?

My 250 will be 40hp by the end of the year :D

Dyno proven additions and driveability better than stock with a wider ratio gearbox.

I love the 250s but their day has passed now.

Full open exhaust header, Akra can, Area-P tune, K&N filter in stock box till their (possible) 44-45 HP tune is out for the pods.

so like uh, u gna do a dyno?

Why? I ride on the street, not a fixed wheel! Setting safe A/F is the task of the tuner. I can discern torque holes rideability/response.

Cuz throwing around numbers is pointless without a dyno

OK. I gave an estimate based on my settings and a dyno tune. That is published right on this site. I don't need to eek out the last 0.000001 HP or Lb-ft, just fill the void left by the EPA and ride a safe tune.

The point of the thread was the luggage, not the dyno chart I haven't got. I can see you making a stink if I claimed 67.896 HP at 19,000 RPM. I didn't.

Nope but you claimed 45 and thats a lot :)

Oh, Area-P is confident it'll have near 45 RWHP with pods, and I'll copy that on mine but I wrote 40ish and thats correct as it is now. and, yes, compared to your bike it is alot I guess?

orly? I thought Kerry said he was confident he could get over 40 but I didn't see anything about 45. **** thats 2hp off the honda 500

It is just under 40 as is, pipe/tuner/airbox & filter. Close enough to call it 40ish in my world. What the pods bring to the table remains to be seen. If it blows the torque curve for pure top then I might pass, or try it with the possibility to go back. I'd like more hit on top but don't really want to loose the fantastic midrange it had stock and has been improved on now.

Anyway, nice bags, huh? :D

that honda seems like its really detuned...

the old ninja 500 had close to 60 hp

Yea I wouldn't mind one on my 250, how much was it? or what does it sell for?

Pod filters man, idk about those, they kinda suck ass and are loud as ****. I'm going to design an alternative, eventually, someday, probably... :p

The rack is around $150, the box was $180. I added a quick replase plate to pull the mount plate off the rack making it very unobtrusive, and the back passenger pad so they can nap in transit!

I had open pods on my 950, wasn't too bad and they pointed right at your face. I'm up in the air on those just yet. If they are a PITA to remove for cleaning it might be enough to keep it stock.

That's about what my Givi system cost on my N1k. They look pretty similar though yours is a 50L and mines a 38L (the 49L was way too ****ing huge)

Nice! I'll definitely do some light-duty touring this season on mine -- should be a great platform. I go one-up, though, so all my luggage is Kriega on the pillion spot. Your set-up looks great though!

I like your setup. I want to some more storage during commuting/longer trips, but I don't want to pay that much for a nice top case like you have. I'll likely get some saddle bags.

Also: any more deets on your fav tank bag there? I'mma looking for one of those for trips this summer, and if you think the fit with the bike is good, that would help a lot.

I kept waiting for Kawasaki to release their 'for the 300' tank bag, but nothing to be found.

It's a discontinued Cortech magnetic bag. There wasn't a model number on it, sorry. The fit isn't bad, I may trim the outer flap at the rear slightly and have a seamstress finish it back up. I did the same with my last bag.

Search Cortech on ebay and I bet one pops up, I looked on/off for about 2 weeks.

Don't be fooled by the 250 Ninja s far as a tourer. I put a little over 8,000 miles in three months with multiple day trips to Watkins Glen, Moto GP in Indy and Biketoberfest in Daytona. Put my bags on and a duffle across the back and good to go. The Corbin seat is very good. I also have and had BMW's, the standard for LD touring. Lots more money, bigger platform knifes through the wind better, carry lots more. Okay I get it but don't think you can't bust around the country on the 250. I switched gearing and have the engine rpm at 7,000 at about 72 mph. Still gets awesome gas mileage. You just can't punch it at 75 or 80 loaded and expect to dart in and out of traffic or get away from something..that is the only limitation. Wardie

I know it can be done, in fact I've done quite a lot of miles 2 up touring on a Ninja 500. The 300 is closer to the 500 now, and the wider ratio trans really gives it great ratios for anything up to 90 MPH. That is where the 300 starts to lag. 4th will pull to actual 87 MPH. Roll on power is really great now. You gotta steal a ride on the 300 when you get a chance, and I'm a big 250 fan.

I am a long time customer and advocate for Renazco Racing seat company, I've had at least 7 seats built over the last decade for my big DS bikes. His stuff is top notch quality and all day long comfort, made famous by supplying seats to Dakar racers.

Anyway, I just mailed off my rear seat to him, and will ship my front too once the new one I ordered arrives. His waiting list is looooong but it is worth the wait. I'll post up what he manages to do. I asked he make the rear as comfy as possible within the tiny footprint it has.

even had a Rt 360 which was a bitch..hated it. Back fired and still have an arch problem with right foot. Worn boots and all still jack hammered me. Never had that problem with my 69' XLCH with a mag!!

Love the looks and just about everything about the 300 but I suspect they'll have to bring back the 500 if Honda 500 sales dig into Ninja sales. Wardie

They might need to bring back the lil ER6n. It was a great bike, my buddy got one on my recommendation. He loves it. They were cheap too.

I think the 300 fits a different category, I'd not even consider the Honda 500. 9k redline, 420 some pounds, no thanks.

I had a few early 70s XL250 Hondas, those weren't too bad, nothing like the 2t beasts!
