The Ninjette fairings are a royal pain to get off. That plastic rivet at the very bottom of the fairing that joins the left and right is particularly annoying. I have a friend with a 600cc Honda Sport Bike and he got a kit of fasteners with a ring on them. He turns them a half a turn, and they are unfastened. No tools required. Has anyone had any experience with such a product? Reference: Dennis Kirk Catalog, bottom of page 391.

I have found that the easiest way to get the bottoms ones off is rather than prying them with a screwdriver, put your flathead in the opening and twist it back and forth, which will loosten/twist the rivet enough to pull it off easily. Incidently enough, I broke one of the rivets under the front cowling this weekend and replaced it with one from Lowes which worked much better. I had one left over and used it under the side fairings, and it was much easier as well.

Dzus fasteners? I haven't used them on my bike but we use them all the time on go carts. For The Win in my book.

Dzus fasteners are tricky because you have to have a secured spring on one side and the are permanently fastened to the panel side. What the OP is talking about is like this:

I've seen 250r plastics with these clips all around, but I can't remember where the heck I saw it. Ah off of Hotbodies site they have a picture of the '08+ 250r, but it's really visible in THIS picture of a ZZ-6R:

TJ, I priced the Dzus fasteners and they are $6.00 Each. I think that I`ll just replace the two plastic rivets that are such a pain to get out.

Wow. I have a couple of bags full of various sized dzus fastners. They're all the 1/4 turn style with flush heads. I was lookin on dzus's site and they've come up with some cool fastners over the years!

The more I look at it, that would be the perfect solution to the black panels on either side of the seat. I've been contemplating storing stuff down there, but didn't have an easy way to get in there without carrying a screwdriver around :)

I have had that same idea! But the screwdriver killed it. Theres so much room down there with the airbox gone. How would you mount a duzs when there is that threaded metal bracket right there?

i've got them holding my belly pan on. no real miles on it yet, so i don't know how easy they'll be to loose. not sure they'd work for every screw, but you could replace some of them i'm sure.
