I've been working with Mike, the owner at Catalyst, for months trying to get the new 300 bodywork done. Unfortunately, I low-sided in the my first race, which slowed the process down considerably.

After piecing together parts to get the OEM's complete again, and spending some time in the shop, we finally got it together.

Catalyst stuff is made right here in San Diego, of quality materials, and has a superior fit/finish to other stuff out there.

I'm not sponsored, and wasn't asked to post this, but big props to Mike for making an excellent product. If I had the track bodywork on the bike when I went down, I could have saved thousands of dollars and months of time. The OEM bodywork has about 35 pieces and 100 nuts/bolts/rivets, the new Catalyst has 3 pieces and 5 bolts.

If you're even thinking about a trackday or racing, I'd seriously look into the Catalyst product.

Yeah, Mike and his guys hand-make these, so they're sure to fit. The thickness of the bodywork is much better than cheaper stuff, buy it once, do it right, and just ride. Hopefully its the last set I'll need. Now the fun part of saving pennies to paint it. . .

These look well made (from what little pictures can tell)! Any chance of a 'street' version of the front cowling?

I was considering making a street legal custom body for Saturn with the headlights and dremeling the sides for a set of Proton Flushmount turn signals.

Also that cut down on mounting points sounds divine. The 300s OEM fairings are puzzle like in places :(

Yeah, I was shocked at how many tabs and bolts and pieces it takes to get the OEM plastics together. I guess from a manufacturing standpoint, thats why they make the big bucks, to purchase separately and re-assemble a 300 would probably cost over $12k.

As for a street version of the plastics, I'm sure its possible to mod them, but would be a PITA.

I wonder if it will fit 250. I like the style of the 300 more than the 250

It supposedly won't, someone else asked me so I asked Mike at Catalyst. The tolerances are so tight on the 300, I don't think it'll fit anything else, but with a dremel and some duct tape, just about anything can be done ;-)

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if they might do it OEM :) For example, Sharkskinz has this:

which looks to be their race fairing with appropriate headlight support.

@ Matt, hope you can make it dude, I was planning on clearin' my name with beverages, and need to poach your lines some more.

@ Alex S., I'm sure you're ready to blossom into the racer all your meme's portray you as: sensitive, furry, and fast. . . .

@ Darren, hope you get your sh*t straight (literally), erreyone would starve without you, and it wouldn't be a two-fiddy pit widdout you. . .

Judging from the response to my sushi proposition (0 response), guess that one's out too. Too bad all the military dudes are litre-bike kamikaze's, we could have done an MRE BBQ for Sat nite. Or just bomb down the hill to the casino for buffet and the .25/ballet.

I know a guy might have a case of MRE's in the closet... not all military guys are liter bike kamikazes...I'd Rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast Bike slow any day!!!

Lol, sorry, the sushi comment was cross-posted, didn't realize that it was in the wrong forum til now, was supposed to be in the "at speed" forum for the next chuck round.

I'd love to see the complexity and piece count reduced for simpler service of a street bike. Will they make one with headlight, passenger, and blinker cut-outs?

Other than Shark Skinz, what race bodywork manufacturer isn't in SD? ;)

Hotbodies is in Poway (SD) and Airtech Streamlining is in Carlsbad (North county SD).

Well, I guess there's Attack Race Bodies, but they are still pretty close (Huntington Beach).

According to Mike @ Catalyst, other co's (HB) outsource to Mexico. Catalyst designs and fabs in Esco.

I don't doubt it. SD is practically Mexico and their eBay store shows SD.

Joel, if you wanna pay for my race entries I will show up :D. I'll even give you ALL of my markers, shift points, lines, etc. That way I am FORCED to improve.

Looks Nice, I like the white, but some color livens it up too. Its funny, the bikes are so small, after numbers and a few sponsors stickers, there's not that much room left for paint anyway.

I def wouldn't mind a street body... I'd hate to have to paint over my stock SE plastic, and I sadly don't have a shop at my disposal anymore

I just bought a set of these for my 300. I am looking forward to receiving them shortly. Catalyst has great customer service as well. Also if you are a new customer you get 10% off and shipping is free. I think that's a pretty sweet deal compared to what all is out there.

If anyone has any usage feedback I would love to hear about it. I am tracking the bike but I think I am going to do a PIAA headlight setup and run it on the street sometime as well once I figure out what I want to do paint wise.

I've been running my Catalyst bodywork for almost a year now, and love them. I didn't get paint on them for quite some time, but the quality is obvious, they are about twice as thick as HB. 4 pieces that fit well. Mike is super-cool, and they run a family operation.

They are super nice for sure and with the first time customer discount it was less than $700 with shipping I was suprised. Thanks for the usage feedback!
