The house fire on the Isle of Man


PRACTICE at the TT was red flagged due to a fire but no motorcycles were involved.

A house caught on fire near Kirk Michael and fire crews were called to the scene at 7pm. The sidecars were out on the course at the time but were send back to the pits to allow emergency services open access to the roads.

Initially it was thought that an oil tank had caught fire next to the house and would need substantial time to get it under control, with many fearing the practice session would be cancelled. Eight firemen tackled the fire and brought it under control an hour later. Practice resumed, with all classes getting valuable time out on the course following dismal weather in the early part of the week.
