You know what they say about things being too good to be true.... Now I'm sure this thing is from China, but what do you guys think of this?

I think it's going to look like an enormous tumor on the back of your Ninjette.

But then, I'd think the same if it were a genuine Givi.

Big luggage, small bike... ugly.

Just my $0.02.

So cheap it's worth the risk, I'd say.

If you need a case go for it. I bought a generic Givi like case and, even though not Givi quality (duh), it is decent for the price. I've had one for 2 seasons so far and love it.

BTW, here's a link (http://www.newninja.com/forums/f108/givi-knock-off-cases-6710.html)to a review I did for the one I ordered. I've since removed the Jr. Strut and mounted the plate directly to the rack. Much nicer.

I read several reviews and kept reading both how terrible they are, and how they are "a good value." Therefore, I've concluded they're like the Harbor Freight of motorcycle luggage cases. (probably will go with a Coocase)

That's a very good comparison.

A couple years ago I bought a freaking HUGE topcase from J.C. Whitney. It was likely bigger than I will ever need, but if I get my old Connie project bike up and running...

So I ordered another one, one size down. It looks more proportionate on the Ninja (old style).

If I need hard luggage, and I am riding my bike, I am not seeing it so I just don't care that much what it looks like. It's a step up from the 'Action Packer' crowd.

The J.C. Whitney topcases are very basic, and I have no illusions that if dropped from seat height they will likely break. I guess perhaps that is where the "you get what you pay for" comes in? Otherwise, cheap enough to modify as you like with no guilt. I read were one guy went crazy with wonderful LED lighting which he integrated into his brake and turn signal lights.

The topcases I have are almost definitely "made in China" (can't check ATM). http://www.jcwhitney.com/motorcycle-travel-trunks/p2010969.jcwx if you want to care to compare - "Garage Pro" brand.

Interesting that you say that; it appears to be a knockoff of the Coocase 48L "Astra" topcase.

That said, I've handled some cheapo cases in a dealership; they opened poorly, looked like they'd unlock if bumped, wouldn't stand up to a casual thief, and probably wouldn't last.

I decided not to buy them as the stuff I store when riding or parked has some value, and I don't want it strewn all over the road or missing when I return. The Coocase stays open and closed when it should, locks securely, and is tough. It's also about 10x the cost of the cheapo. (ref. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/shop-by-product/luggage-racks/hard-luggage?brand=Coocase&cat=3019)

Soo ... I guess, consider the cost of the case vs. the cost of losing whatever's in it.

As for large cases, don't think they look silly; but you won't look like a GP3 rider any more. You'll look like a sport-touring rider. Honestly, I am happy with my 37L case, but if the prices when I bought mine were the ones Twisted Throttle has now, I'd have gone with the 48L case.

Looks to be a givi monolock knockoff... JC Whitney has a monkey knockoff for $45 (be aware, they mislabled them and no one has caught it yet.. the larger one is cheaper). It fit on my givi topcase mount perfectly and that left me the mounting plate they sent to mount on my ATV back deck.

The monolocks are lighter duty... the monkeys are heavy duty. I think I got that right.

I got a BIG ole tail bag that I use when touring or commuting(I can fit a weekend worth of clothes and stuff in it) Looks ugly when on the bike but works well.
