Well, it's been a little over two weeks since I've had my 300. It's been an all around awesome bike imo. Anyway here's some of the mods that I've done so far.

As seen before: SS fender eliminator

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0288_zpsab310e80.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0288_zpsab310e80.jpg.html)

Changed the fake carbon fiber tank protector for the real thing, and added some stomp-grip, more on that later...

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0302_zpsb196347d.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0302_zpsb196347d.jpg.html)

Woodcraft clip-ons 2 1/2" rise, and some new grips. I kept the stock bar ends.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0296_zps648471f3.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0296_zps648471f3.jpg.html)

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0300_zps8b48aae5.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0300_zps8b48aae5.jpg.html)

These required some grinding away of a little material on the triple tree, to get the correct angle on the bars, but nothing major. Overall I liked the more aggressive position of the clip-ons. It did leave my legs feeling a little bit cramped though, so I got these.

Yoshimura rearset adjusters

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0294_zps575c470d.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0294_zps575c470d.jpg.html)

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0291_zps7fa789a7.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0291_zps7fa789a7.jpg.html)

Getting the right one on took a little "adjustment", but it went on just fine. I don't plan on keeping the stock exhaust anyway. I haven't taken a ride since I've done this mod yet, but I like where it puts the pegs at from sitting on the bike.

Overall I'm happy with all the mods I've done so far, and only have a few more planned. more on the stomp-grip later, but basically it turned out looking like crap.

you said you felt a little cramped after installing clip-ons, how tall are you?

2 1/2" rise! Are you leaning backwards while you're sittin on the bike? Even stock I feel like I'm perpindicular to the bike sometimes.

The stock bike has risers that mount on top of the triple tree. These put the bars about 2 inches forward and 1 inch down I think.

Looking great! Thanks, I love my 300.

So did you feel more cramped after the clipons? or just still cramped?

With the clip ons and rearset adjusters together I'd say that the bike feels a little more roomy. Overall I'm pretty happy with the combination.

I finally got my PowerBronze windscreen the other day. I got the light smoke version, which is the only color with the ninja logo I guess. Anyway I think it looks sick, and is definitely effective.

Today I finished installing a gixxer 600 shock I got off ebay. I didn't like the yellow spring, so I painted it first. Here's a pic compared to stock.

and on the bike. I went for a short ride and it felt nice, very controlled.

A while back I got some Slingshot racing frame plugs.

I also replaced the levers with some adjustable ones I got off ebay.

I ordered some blue anodized bolts for the gas cap from ebay. The pack only came with 5 bolts, and two were shorter than the rest. So I've got 3 black and 3 blue bolts but I think it looks alright.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0332_zps1a85ae09.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0332_zps1a85ae09.jpg.html)

I also got some Venhill SS brake lines in electric blue. Just finished installing the front line this morning. Haven't gotten to go for a test ride yet, but the lever feels very firm now.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0336_zps387691a5.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0336_zps387691a5.jpg.html)

As you can see I'm trying to add some blue bits to my bike, but I don't want to go overboard. So far I think it's coming together nicely.

firm. heh heh heh heh. :)

Looks great! Might want to look into blue rim stripes and/or blue vinyl decals to cover the OE 'Kawasaki' and 'Ninja' etc. That way you keep the blue theme without going overboard. If you're into that, that's what I would do.

ninjamunky85
July 4th, 2013, 03:10 PM
Yeah I was thinking about getting some reflective blue rim tape, but I'm not sure. I would like to replace the Kawasaki sticker on the bottom with a blue Kawasaki one.

Well I got a ride in this morning, but looks like it's gonna be raining off and on for the rest of the day. So... I've been messing around in the garage, my second favorite thing to do besides riding, :D and I got the rear SS line installed.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0354_zpsf961ca55.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0354_zpsf961ca55.jpg.html)

The front brake still isn't giving me the stopping power I'm looking for, so I think I'm gonna try and find some HH pads for the front.

choneofakind I guess I missed your question when first posted.

Yes my first street bike was an '04 250. I still have this bike.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/ninjamunky85/IMAG0017.jpg (http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/ninjamunky85/media/IMAG0017.jpg.html)

I put ~20k miles on that bike, mostly in the past 3 years. I was still riding it at the beginning of this year, along with my supermoto, but decided I wanted something a little faster and more modern.

My mods to the 250 include: '08 250 rear shock, GS500F front springs and 15wt fork oil, a little shaving of the seat, and that's about it.

What weight are the GS500F springs? I'm running EX500 springs, which are 0.585 kg/mm, which is a touch soft, even for my lightweight butt, according to racetech.

Also, I want to try out some thicker fork oil. I just don't want to go through the hassle of switching it. Can I just use the oil drain at the bottom or do I have to remove the forks and flip them upside down? Forks are one area I'm a little hazy on...

I don't remember exactly, but basically the same weight an the ninja 500 ones. I think they are too stiff, just never got around to changing them back.

Changing the fork oil wasn't hard. I did remove the forks to do it though.

I forget, pod filter setup right? I also really like the windscreen you have with the fade from dark to clear. That's the best one imho. Looks cool, but is still useful for cameras and track because it's clear.

Intake mods include a K&N panel filter and snorkel removal. I talked with Kerry today and he told me that this would work best with the map programmed on the micro-tuner. I'm not interested in running pod filters.

I also like my windscreen much better than the blacked out one. Much more functional, and as a bonus it was the only one with the ninja logo. Looks like aftermarket OEM.

Not so much a mod as an accessory, I got this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-Camera-GPS-Cell-Phone-Radar-Tank-Mount-For-Suzuki-/151089849543?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item232da824c7&vxp=mtr) tank mount off of ebay that I have been using for my Contour HD. I think it works great.

I believe it was from an '07 gixxer 600. Yes, some modifications need to be made to the shock and the bike but nothing too dramatic.

Check out this (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=119304&highlight=gsxr+shock) thread. It's definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you ride aggressively, or do a lot of 2-up riding.

It's a pretty easy upgrade if you know what you're doing. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours tops.

Also didn't cost much since I sold my stock shock for the same price that I paid for the gixxer shock.

I was getting tired of always worrying about my tank bag scratching up my paint, also I can't use it with my camera mount for the tank... so I went up to Iron Pony today to look at tail bags.

I was considering the CycleGuys fastpack (http://www.thecycleguys.com/), which I liked because it lays flat when you aren't using it. I was happy to see that they also had the Kawasaki tail bag. As I was debating which one to choose a salesman suggested that I should get the Kawasaki one, and I agreed.

I'm glad that I did as it fits the bike perfectly, is well constructed, and doesn't look half bad either.

As you can see it also expands to be a little bigger, plenty big for what I need. It also look like it would be mostly waterproof, the zippers are of the water resistant kind. It was kind of expensive, but I should get many years of use from it.
