The new SE schemes replaces last year's SE Green/Ebony and the Moondust Grey that was for the SE ABS. I'm not really feeling the 2014s SE colours though. Pearl Stardust White is now available in Canada and replaces the Passion Red; a step forward and a step backward here as both these colours look pretty sharp to me.

The silly black tank on a white bike makes no sense to me.

Agreed. Too busy for my tastes. The new SE green/ebony looks especially horrible. The colour on the rims look awfully out of place.

Damn didn't even notice that. Dislike the xmas colors.
lgk August 13th, 2013, 07:40 PM Would actually pay them extra for a flat neon green paint job.
I like my sportbikes brightly colored.
LNasty August 13th, 2013, 07:47 PM Guess I'll wait to see what they bring out in 2015
JohnnyBravo August 13th, 2013, 07:56 PM Idk who they let pic the color combinations, some look good, some ya wonder wtf were they drunk on... I like the orange one from Indonesia would be better solid orange though!!!
Byakkotai August 13th, 2013, 08:05 PM Barely off topic - Kawasaki Canada's site looks really clean to me. Like.
Yeah, not feeling the choice they made on gas tank colors. More solids...less craziness. Seems like black is here to stay, everywhere.
lgk August 13th, 2013, 08:15 PM Wouldnt mind a black on black version but than again it'd be a solid color
LNasty August 13th, 2013, 08:40 PM Looks like they up'd the prices another $600 on each model. Before long a 300 will cost as much as a 600. Might have to start looking into Honda

I think the MSRP on the 2013's in Canada was $5299 for non-ABS. It went up by $100 CAD
fishdip August 13th, 2013, 08:45 PM I question if this is real

Crap, I forgot I was looking at Canadian prices.....eh.

There is a YouTube video of someone with the white one, revving it

These pics with all color choices are already up on the main Kawasaki Canada site: (link (http://www.kawasaki.ca/product/ninja-300-se))

Then that sucks for the guy in the vid
Jono August 13th, 2013, 10:25 PM Yuck! What where they thinking. Those graphics are ugly. And the black tank on the white bike looks so out of place.
Boom King August 14th, 2013, 07:05 AM I question if this is real
Yes they're real... real ugly.
Mechanical changes? New features?
Anything interesting other than pain scheme?
I agree... the new schemes are painful. But don't hold your breath for any mechanical changes. The 2008-2012s were mechanically the same year to year.
Old Lemon August 14th, 2013, 01:07 PM gotta have that red rim tape on a green bike
csmith12 August 14th, 2013, 01:12 PM :werd:
It's only paint and stickers yo! It's what's underneath that counts.
JohnnyBravo August 14th, 2013, 02:55 PM shouldnt she be sayin :werd: hahahaha

Haha still wonder who the heck designs the color schemes??? All of them seem a bit off, thrown together, an unfinished :(
Heck yea this orange is sweeeeeet, lets throw a black tank on every color an see if anyone notices we are lazy an possibly color blind
sheH4TEme2 August 14th, 2013, 03:15 PM I don't like the dab of red on the second one. I'd rather have it just black and white.
Lychee August 14th, 2013, 03:35 PM Yes they're real... real ugly.
I agree... the new schemes are painful. But don't hold your breath for any mechanical changes. The 2008-2012s were mechanically the same year to year.
Were there any recalls on 2008-2012?
JohnnyBravo August 14th, 2013, 03:43 PM Were there any recalls on 2008-2012?
Probly sorted the recalls on the 250's in the 80's or 90's... Not many mostly new things come out without hiccups.
ally99 August 14th, 2013, 04:00 PM I'll probably stick with a used 2013. So the MSRP for a 2014 is only $100 more? Are they offering the Gray in the US?
LNasty August 14th, 2013, 04:11 PM To whomever rated my post "bad" about the 2014 being $600 more, obviously didn't read all of the post in the thread where I said "crap, forgot those were Canadian prices" which at approx. $600 more than in the u.s... So....:flipthebird: :p
Alex August 14th, 2013, 04:16 PM Were there any recalls on 2008-2012?
Yes, there was a recall for 2009-2010 versions for a potential hole in the case, somewhere down near the gear selector. It was showing up as leaks on a number of bikes.
The database for all official recalls can be searched here:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchVehicles
LNasty August 14th, 2013, 04:18 PM Wish they would recall the cdi on 08 thru 12. They still haven't gotten mine fixed.
Alex August 14th, 2013, 04:20 PM That database is fun to look through. I saw the 300 recall, and you can look at each of the individual complaints that were submitted. I am 99.6% sure we all know who submitted this one to the NHTSA:
BAD WOBBLE THRU HANDLE BARS ON DECELERATION FROM ABOUT 100 KMPH. IF YOU LIFT YOUR HANDS OFF THE BARS ABOUT 1 CENTIMETRE THE BIKE SLOWS DOWN & BARS SHAKE VERY BADLY, HAS MAJOR POTENTIAL TO CAUSE CRASH.THE CURE IS TO REPLACE THE STOCK BEARINGS WITH TAPERED ROLLER BEARINGS.HAS AFFECTED EVERY KAWASAKI NINJA 250 SINCE 1996 & THE SAME IN THE 2012 & ABOVE NINJA 300 DUE TO POOR BEARING CHOICE AT FACTORY & SWAME PATS USED ON THE 250 AS WELL AS 300.USUALLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AROUND THE 5000 KILOMETER MARK WITH TAPERED ROLLER BEARINGS AS WOBBLE/SHAKE IS SO BAD.

first I have seen this, so were the bearings replaced? or is this something we have to do ourselves? I have a 2012 that i bought new at dealer
Alex August 14th, 2013, 04:52 PM No - that wasn't a recall, it's just one of the complaints that was submitted by someone to the NHTSA about their ninjette. There's a well-known poster here who is about as excited with high-quality tapered roller bearings as any individual can possibly be, and considers the stock stuff to be insufficient.
LNasty August 14th, 2013, 05:21 PM Ah

nightrider August 14th, 2013, 09:22 PM They need to stop with these stupid SE colour schemes and stick to solid colours.
Anyone know when they will unveil the new colours for the supersports? I would love a 636 in red...
mania August 15th, 2013, 01:37 AM Folks here in Asia have not been thrilled with the new colors either
We have all three, Green,White & Orange
The good thing is fairings from 2013 Kawasaki are cheap here especially if you take them without decals
So some are buying the White & basically converting it to all black
using the 2013 fairings
sunspots August 17th, 2013, 01:14 AM I actually like the way the white one looks a lot.
LNasty August 17th, 2013, 09:30 AM the orange one is the best looking imo
xSean13 August 17th, 2013, 09:59 AM The fairings are so bulky and ugly, they had to put some crazy paint schemes to make it look better.

rasta August 19th, 2013, 12:28 AM I actually like the way the white one looks a lot.
I agree yo, the white one isn't too bad. It'd be better with a white gas tank, but I still like it
JohnnyBravo August 20th, 2013, 01:17 PM I'm usually all for some stickers... But :puke:
Lychee August 20th, 2013, 01:42 PM No - that wasn't a recall, it's just one of the complaints that was submitted by someone to the NHTSA about their ninjette. I guess csmith12
Alex August 20th, 2013, 01:47 PM Nope. :)
csmith12 August 20th, 2013, 01:50 PM huh?!?!?!?1, hahahahahahha
I love high-quality tapered roller bearings as much as the next guy. :crazyloco:
lgk August 20th, 2013, 01:56 PM if the tank on the white one was white, it would look ok
Lychee August 20th, 2013, 02:07 PM Nope. :)
Oh whoops, wrong Chris, I meant the one with the pregen. Is it choneofakind
Alex August 20th, 2013, 02:10 PM Still nope. :)
Lychee August 20th, 2013, 02:17 PM kkim?
Where'd that guy go anyway there are a billion helpful posts authored by him.
choneofakind August 20th, 2013, 06:00 PM
I do use those bearings. They're pretty good at getting rid of the slop in the stem, but when all things are considered, they're really just bearings.
I think I can guess in one guess who it is :)
lgk August 20th, 2013, 07:03 PM I remember that thread, lol.
Was going to buy them based on the durability and fitment claims.
Honestly if the piece was that cheap, why not include it from the factory.?:D

I'd say it was Alex...or Maybe jiggles, he hated everything on his when he got it! Haha it stalled, was a death trap, was the worst bike ever put out and was sure to fail, haha or something along those lines
Boom King August 21st, 2013, 06:26 AM Haha, I also know who it is. Actually it's not hard to Google the issue and run across the thread from another forum to figure out who the guilty party is.
Lychee August 21st, 2013, 11:12 AM old3? My curiosity is totally getting the best of me.

I still do, but that report to NHTSA wasn't from me.
Guilty of what exactly? Fixing the factory's OEM substandard bearings? Apparently, somebody else did it long before I did, thus the kit. Why nobody else seems to mind the steering slop is the mystery. Ignorance is bliss I suppose?
Alex August 22nd, 2013, 11:18 AM Guilty of nothing at all, don't worry! :) 75% of entertainment on forums is needling those that have interesting or unique opinions to share. You appreciate decent steering head bearings, we get it.
Boom King August 22nd, 2013, 11:28 AM ^ Exactly. Comment was made with tongue in cheek. Besides, nothing to worry about since you're innocent so we'll move onto the next suspect
old3 August 22nd, 2013, 01:03 PM I thought I felt the searing heat of hot tar and feathers being prepared!
I am used to a dramatically more precision from a decade of KTM/Husqvarna street bikes, super moto and MX race bikes. How guys ride these Kaws (cows) with that head slop I'll never get. "You only understand the best you've tried" is commonly applied to suspension mods/adjustments. I think the same applies here. Plenty don't seem to notice the steering issue at all. It isn't normal but you've heard my opinion already.
My decel steering wobble has returned about 20% of the time, but the sticky Conti race/sumoto tire on the front is hammered from heavy braking and hard steering. Quite a bit of serious cupping so business as usual. The frame solidity is still there post bearing swap. A fresh tire will erase the occasional wobble again for 2500 miles or so.
JohnnyBravo August 22nd, 2013, 06:49 PM I thought I felt the searing heat of hot tar and feathers being prepared!
Haha no tar or feathers... But got info about sloppy bearings brought up, an the solution in this thread!

Not that I know of (spec changes)...mighta fixed the popping out upper fairing people are talking about? Kawi's holding both the US Dealer meeting and the Gaslamp Takeover this week in SD, so we'll see!
Wonder if we'll be getting the same colors as Australia (http://www.kawasaki.com.au/motorcycles/sport/2014-ninja-300) again...

Well US Site is updated (http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/product-specifications.aspx?scid=6&id=785) - aside from the price increases on all the non-ABS...the ABS equipped SE price stayed the same
subxero September 6th, 2013, 11:19 AM old3? My curiosity is totally getting the best of me.
did ya really need to use the mention tag when guessing who?
Alex September 6th, 2013, 11:21 AM Hmm - now ABS is only a $300 bump from the non-ABS versions. Would be very hard to turn down at this point, if only they released the ABS versions in better colors.
EDIT: Just saw the the ABS non-SE is now offered in Black, which probably will be reasonably attractive to folks. But they've also dropped the all-white from all versions, which seems surprising as well.

We're exclusive now  But would you have considered another 300 if the PS White were available with ABS (or selling your non-ABS one)?
I find it strange that there aren't more options for solids (red, green, grey etc). At least just one more to supplement the black. Instead, it seems that they are offering all the colors this year with an optional ABS trim.
ally99 December 1st, 2013, 06:05 PM Damn, I hated the color options for the 2014s so much, I bought the last 2013 they had in stock. Too gaudy for my taste.
Klondike1020 December 1st, 2013, 10:00 PM Strange they dropped the white. It seemed to be the favorite and fastest selling paint scheme around here any how.
My gf had to drive hours to find a dealer that had white when she got hers.
Klondike1020 December 1st, 2013, 10:19 PM For some reason KAwaski USA is not loading ...
and I googled the new color scemes and see an orange with a black tank and a white with a black tank? and they both look crappy
why wont the page load .... ! argghhh!

If they had this last year I would have gotten it w/ABS over my better looking star dust white and no ABS.
fmnowling December 2nd, 2013, 06:57 PM Mine looks just like that - 300 ABS - because I only got it on Saturday & haven't ridden it enough to get it dirty or smooshed yet... I only have about an hour on it so far, and before that, just my MSF course on a Honda Rebel 250.

They did have this last year, didn't they? Or do you mean the ABS version? 2013 had the same color, yes, that one looks good. The other 2 color options sucked! If I was going to get one like that, give me a 2013 for nearly $1000 less, thank you.

JohnnyBravo December 4th, 2013, 07:06 PM I would have got abs if the store had one when I went
Xorro December 5th, 2013, 05:13 AM UK is getting the Special Edition now - had a feeling that we would.

Y'all have the best looking colors I've seen for 2014 IMO
Have I mentioned the black tank looks out of place in all but the black bikes??? Yuck
ally99 December 9th, 2013, 04:34 PM :whathesaid: Completely tacky. What were they thinking?!?
JohnnyBravo December 9th, 2013, 07:00 PM I haven't a clue... Daaaaaang we have waaaaay to many black tanks, lets give them to America. Haha def would like to hear the real story.
ally99 December 18th, 2013, 08:00 PM Um, black is cheaper? I don't know. Can't imagine why they'd do that. That is one of the main reasons I went with a 2013 instead of a 2014.
JohnnyBravo December 18th, 2013, 09:12 PM :pound: I doubt black is cheaper, could be though.
2013 def had better paint schemes, you checked out the UK paint schemes? Pretty sweet, how we got lamed with black tanks for all, the world may never know. Anybody got the paint guy at Kawasaki in their roladex?
mataleo December 23rd, 2013, 06:07 AM I went for orange black, in real it looks better :)
its 300cc SE ABS
its in thailand...

That's a hot color scheme! I wish they'd release more colors here.
lgk December 23rd, 2013, 07:51 AM that does look pretty cool, you hardly notice the black tank.
allanoue December 23rd, 2013, 08:24 AM that does look pretty cool, you hardly notice the black tank.
Unlike the white :(
lgk December 23rd, 2013, 08:29 AM Unlike the white :(
they should have made the white have a white tank, lol.
that black just looks mismatched.
might just wait for the 2013s to go on sale at the dealership.
JohnnyBravo December 23rd, 2013, 08:41 AM That orange does look pretty sweet ... Still not a fan of black tanks on colored bikes
DEFY December 23rd, 2013, 08:46 AM Orange can get a way with the black tank but white looks horrible.
mataleo December 23rd, 2013, 09:42 AM orange and black is nice combination, i like it :)
JohnnyBravo December 23rd, 2013, 10:17 AM True... It's def not the worst color scheme ever, the orange def pops, guess I'm more into single colors
PartsNinja January 21st, 2014, 06:53 AM Mechanical changes? New features?
Anything interesting other than pain scheme?
I highly doubt they will change much of anything at all other than paint for 3-4 years.
