I thought I'd create a seperate thread from the SoCal Peeps thread to get more exposure for this ride.

I'm going with my friend on Monday so if you guys like to join us we're meeting up at the mobil station on Azusa ave at 9:30am.

145 N Azusa Ave, Azusa, CA

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=mobil&sll=34.147897,-117.913513&sspn=0.117346,0.21698&g=azusa,+ca&ie=UTF8&latlng=34123224,-117907950,8306693676570921591&ei=5zuvSauPMp7SiAPC84CyAQ&cd=1#

I'm also going on Tuesday at the same time.

We'll start the ride at 9:45am.

If anyone knows of a good local place to eat we'll head there afterwards, otherwise we part.

Hope to meet some local ninjette riders!

Ken, I'm an 80% in for Monday. I'll post again come Sunday evening. Do you guys ride with full leathers?

Hi Chris,

Last time we went I wore 2-piece leathers, and my friend wore a Dainese jacket and leg armor under jeans.

Awesome Ken, not that it really mattered, just wanted to see how you guys geared up for your rides. Looks like 95% in for Monday now.

Boo! Actually, I normally work Mon-Fri :) So this is a treat.

What if I said wifebeaters, shorts, and flipflops? LOL. I've seen way too many accident aftermath pics of squids before I started riding. If I'm not wearing leather pants I'll wear leather-lined jeans or cargo pants with t-pro forcefield armor pants underneath... but I'm always wearing a leather jacket, back protector, gauntlet gloves, and race boots whenever I go to GMR (or anytime I'm riding except when it's super cold, then I'm wearing a Teknic Spider textile jacket and Teknic Sprint textile pants).

Joseph: It'd be great if you come on Tuesday. I would like to follow someone with a lot more experience.

Good to know :) I figured you were in the right mindset, I was just curious. Flip flops would be great for next time though.

Hey! I have a lot of canyon riding experience too

:D

...just not on GMR hehe. I've watched some videos of the route on YouTube and it seems way manageable.

I've seen Joseph post pics of himself there but I know you have a lot of experience too. It'll be nice to follow you guys through the esses.

 I've seen a lot of the squid vids on YouTube, but this one was new to me. The first scene with the road rash makes me cringe. Excellent motivation for sure.

To get some good riding in, I'm probably gonna start a little earlier. Check the road out and see how it is. I usually make one run up and down first pretty slow just to check the condition out and remove any large rocks or anything that might have gotten pushed onto the road. And also note any water or dusty spots or anything else like that. I'll be up on the mountain already by 9:45. If and when I see some other 250s, I'll turn around. :)

I've got class at 1:15, so I gotta be outta there by 11:30 at the latest so I can get home. change, and run to school.

*This is pending that my tires aren't crapped out from Sunday's trackday*

I feel bad for the poor bikes on this one! I cringed everytime I saw one go through the air :( The riders brought it on themselves, but those bikes

Damn it Ken! My alarm clock wasn't set for daylight savings. It rang at 9am which really was 10 :/ Sorry. I didn't mean to flake....:(

Chris,

It was drizzling this morning and waaaay cold, so I thought you'd might stay in.

We decided to forgo East Fork Road and continued north on Rte 39 until the road block. Here's some pics:

Somewhere on Rte 39 north of East Fork Road facing south:

Pic of mountain around the same spot:

Me without my lid and gloves:

We were planning on going up and down on Rte 39 a couple of more times but all of the sudden there were a bunch of cars on the road so we decided to end it.

This I found out right after I left my post :) Doesn't look like it's going to clear up today or at least right now. Supposed to be sunny in the low 70's the rest of the week. Any chance of riding Wed or Fri?

PS. Thanks for the pics!

Won't be there tomorrow. Had a lowside at buttonwillow yesterday. Bike is rideable and I finished the last sessions of the day yesterday but I'll be staying off the bike for a bit to patch it up for my next track day.

:( Not again. Glad you're okay. Was it the tires? Lean angle? How's your A*s suit holding up?

It's not a big deal. I'm more glad I continued to ride the rest of the day and not let the crash demons get me. I'd probably be haunted for awhile if I had just packed it up and called it a day.

It wasn't the tires. Those Bt-090s stick like glue! I just didn't let them warm up enough one session. It was my fault. I know better.

My TEKNIC ;) suit held up quite well. I got a little hole through the stretch material in the elbow which resulted in a little abrasion there but not a scratch on me elsewhere and no holes in the leather.

Not bad for a 300 dollar suit.

Yikes! Blasphemy on my part ;) My memory recalls different logos haha.

Good to know Joseph.

Actually, hows your helmet? I know the integrity of it after a crash drops a lot. Time for a replacement?

Sucks to hear. :( You should get another bike and make your current 250 track duty-only.
