Trying to figure out how to post pictures from Picasa since I already have a gmail account. If you know the answer before I can figure it out, do share.:p

Ignore the "link to this image" links on the right side of the Picasa screen. Just right-click on the actual picture you want to use and choose "Properties". You will see an Address there, which is the full URL of the picture. Select the full address, and copy it. Make sure you've copied the whole address, it needs to start with http: and end with .jpg or .gif. Come back here and while you're editing a post, hit the yellow postcard icon and hit paste:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_G2yT6onVWw0/R2xG2GR31pI/AAAAAAAACJM/mR2F3K6_5jo/s912/Vale%20Outside%20011.JPG

That's it...

That pic is when Valentino was just a pup, and is from my picasa web album.

The full address for that pics looks like:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_G2yT6onVWw0/R2xG2GR31pI/AAAAAAAACJM/mR2F3K6_5jo/s912/Vale%20Outside%20011.JPG

No idea why google does silly things with the "link to this image" which disables direct linking, yet they allow the URL of the pic itself to be seen right in the properties. I don't get it. :idunno:

Alex, I'm not seeing your image, either.

Sweet. Thanks Alex. I was like doing the "IMG" boxes with the link and was wondering what I was doing wrong. I like Picasa's upload feature its so easy. :D

I can see your picture now in the scond post. I could not previously. I still can't see Alex's picture.

How do you make the picture appear bigger. Because if this is how small the pics are going to be, then my DIY Replace Clutch Cable would be useless.

Weird. I can see it in IE, but I think it is because it is in my IE cache. I do not see it either in Firefox. But interestingly, now I do see your picture in your second post, islander, in FF.

Google is doing something funky with Picasa, I don't get it. There's no trick to it here on ninjette (or any other vbulletin board), the img tag just links to the web address of the picture. The web server that hosts that picture (not ninjette) should serve it up without any weirdness, but google is evidently doing some more processing to decide whether or not it is a direct link (someone pasting it in an address bar), or a linked request (someone clicking on a link to get to the image, and/or the image being linked from an img request).

If you do a google search for "picasa web albums linked pictures" or similar, there are a bunch of people out there having similar issues. If you come up with a reliable way to do this, post it up. Or if you just want to see if anyone else sees your pics, this is a good place as well. It seems that just because you can see it, it doesn't mean anyone else can see it, as demonstrated by my own pic above.

you need to click on the picture in your google album to get it to be displayed full sized. Then copy and paste the url in properties into the image icon in the post.

you know what? I think may be because picasa allows blanks in the file name, and web browsers don't. My url:

In the properties, it changes those blanks to %20, which is the character for blank, but it doesn't seem to work reliably. See if you have any blanks in the the file names of the pictures that you are trying to link, take out all spaces, and try again.

As for sizing, for better or worse, ninjette.org doesn't do any resizing or limiting of any pics that are in between img tags. Whatever pic address you put between those tags, the user's browser will happily try and load it up.

I don't see the dog Alex...
What I do is use the link thing over on the right, and then click the link to this item, next I click the checkmark to hide album link, that gives me this:

<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/1GFd4NZu5Hr3O7su2LJjXQ?authkey=Gv1sRgCNHJ6u2v5OXkxAE&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_V-U-OR3ze94/SawhJZ2-vyI/AAAAAAAAAT4/tOaDVwJup7U/s800/IMG_0415.JPG" /></a>

From that I copy the address in the img src="" part into the yellow picture box
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_V-U-OR3ze94/SawhJZ2-vyI/AAAAAAAAAT4/tOaDVwJup7U/s800/IMG_0415.JPG

If you want to change the size, you just change the bolded number from 144 to 400 600 or 800

and Alex - on yours I see a red x for both in an IE tab, and nothing at all in a ff tab

Test...

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_G2yT6onVWw0/SbWuuVSqYPI/AAAAAAAACJo/-ap2NE-qUL0/s144/Vale_Outside_011.JPG

url from the embed code:

url from the properties on the image:

They are identical except for the size parameter.

Here it is with the 800 size:

I have no explanation for why picasa is so strange about giving a reliable URL that will work each time. Smugmug, Flickr, Photobucket, and a host of others have no such issues.
