Look at my bunghole.

I removed the KLEEN and installed an Autotune.

I got frustrated because I didn't know how to use the software at first.

I was hoping this was going to be a video thread of the ninja 300's exhaust note being autotuned (you know like those rappers/singers nowadays).

I always wondered what folks meant when they were talking bout autotune for bikes... I think I'm still kinda wondering :/

Need some TP for your bunghole?

If you put an oxygen sensor in the exhaust, you can figure out the mixture that's being burnt in the cylinder.

By relating the feedback from the O2 sensor to the fuel added from the injector pulse, the fuel tuner can then "tune" the fuel delivery by adjusting the pulse width of the injector to burn fuel at a specified desired mixture. That's why this method of fuel injection is called closed loop; there's a loop of logic that's closed back on itself. Injector pulse, oxygen sensor voltage, adjust, injector pulse, oxygen sensor voltage, adjust. Lather rinse and repeat.

That means that eventually, you can adjust the fueling to suit any intake/exhaust setup without using a dyno and 'sniffer' stuck into the exhaust pipe.

In a sense, you tell it a desired air / fuel ratio either set or for given throttle to rpm, it analyses the exhaust to see how much oxygen is in the exhaust gasses, adds more fuel till the level of oxygen is down to a point where it's at the set ratio and it'll do this along the rpm range, it may do clever stuff like make the mixture more rich if it senses the tps is fully turned or give you a lean burn if you're coasting.

The name of the game is to get all the fuel burnt, without any excess oxygen or excess fuel. The rit mix = maximum power, efficiency & longevity.

Excess oxygen means not enough fuel which means it's running hot and will break the engine, too much fuel means you're wasting fuel and it may leave nasty deposits associated with incomplete compustion.

Reading this post got me motivated to finally finish writing a how-to for the Autotune (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=150568). Have a look at the first few paragraphs if you want to know what an Autotune does.

Though the post is in the 250R section - it applies to almost all applications of the Autotune and includes 300 specific info as well.
