Buying an '08 ninja 250r and I'm looking for suggestions or a link to suggestions on a chain and sprocket kit. You should see the front sprocket on this bike its basically non existent. I'll post up a picture when I get it home.

I'm just looking to replace with the original size chain/sprockets and i saw some on ebay and amazon and such but dont want to get something that will just crap out on me. Also I've read that the riveting type are better so I'd prefer that.

Got these earlier this year.

Chain (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007A8OJX4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Master Link (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Y0M8EW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Front Sprocket (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031743MU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

All work fine. I went with a 15T front.

Don't know much about chains etc. will that chain work fine with a 14 front sprocket? and what kind of differences do you see with a 15t?

EK chains are good. Get them sized to 106 links otherwise you'll have to do it yourself. Make sure it's 520. Basic O ring seal is okay for our bikes.

JT sprockets are good. Get steel. They last longer than aluminum.

Also look for EK screw type master link. More secure than clip type links but don't need chain rivet tool.

Yeah, a 106 will work with either 14 or 15 front. Most of my miles are commuting every day. A 15 allows the engine to settle down a bit on the highway and makes 1st gear a bit more useful in the city. You give up just a little bit of acceleration power but overall I'm very happy with the switch.

Here is another thread to read and there are several others...

I typically go with D.I.D. chains and JT sprockets.

I just put a pair of JT sprockets on mine and it added 10rwhp. I can do power on wheelies in 3rd merging into traffic from on ramps now.

Primary drive Chains

I use them on my KLR, thumpers are nasty on chains. this is on and off road, and I get tons of miles

they are supposed to be made by DID, and they last, and are cheaper!
