View Full Version : When should I actually call the service-limit?

What I mean is to what decimal point. The official service-limit on the front rotor is 4.0mm. The average current measurement on mine is currently 4.05mm. For the intended purpose, have I hit the service-limit, or do I get another couple months? I have a replacement, but I want to squeeze all the life I reasonably can out of the old rotor (they aren't cheap).

The recommended limit is to prevent warpage due to heat cycles.

If your disc is flat still, you may be able to squeeze some more miles out of it.

Out of curiosity. How many miles do you have on the rotor?

I would have to check my records to be sure, but I have gone about 40K miles, and this will be the second time I've replaced them. 20K?

You can always ride with a warped rotor too, at least I do...
