Check the legality of LEDs in your area first. I know here green is reserved for volunteer firefighters. Blue/Red combo is reserved for cops etc.

Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only tire leds out there are the motion activated ones. Otherwise, it'd be real hard to wire em up. Most people do em to highlight the engine and frame.

Here's what I did on my 06 to increase visibility and to make sure people didn't think I was just a dink with a headlight out:

you are right, the tire LED's are motion activated. the only reason i was considering them was cuz of how cheap they were (2 for $10). Just something to throw on ya know and not worry about wiring or anything.

Your bike looks awesome tho. I hope i can use green here cuz otherwise other colors might not work so well with mine.

what exactly did u do for the front (type of LED's and wiring)

Thanks. The leds were a gift from overseas - so I have no idea the make/model... But just a regular strip of diodes that I hooked up to a rocker switch and then wired in with the horn. Not hard to wire up, actually, so you can definitely give it a try. Best thing is because it's tied in with the horn it already has a fuse and, if I ever forget to turn off the switch, it'll turn off automatically when the key's pulled.

thats a good idea tying them in with the horn
im not with my bike right now so as soon as i get back and thinnk about which DIY i want to do I'll see what kind of LED tube i can get. if i have any problems with wiring with the horn i can PM you right? or i can call you at like 3am? soundds good? ha jk

The ones we're talking about are the ones that replace the valve stem cap. Something like this:

Tire LED's work quite well and do a very good job.

Wow those look cool. I wonder whether they would look good with rimstripes, or whether they would overshadow the stripes completely... anyone have experience or pics???

Edit: found some at this site:

Does anyone have experience ordering from bikerhiway.com?

These used to be really big back when the import scene was just taking off. In my opinion looks kinda cheesy and knowing how junior high school kids are...those would get jacked real quick and you'll see them on a a kids bike reallll soon...IMO though

ya I don't think there's a way to lock them down. And I don't like the fact that they're on all the time - day or night.

and pete - that wasn't a pic of my bike. Just a google pic to show ajay.

Well the ones I linked are actually motion activated, so they'd turn off as soon as you come to a stop. However, they are much larger and brighter than I'd like. I was thinking about some very dim ones just as a visibility aid. Sorta like brighter versions of rimstripes.

Edit: Duh I just figured out you meant day or night, not moving or stopped! Yeah I don't know how to avoid that. Maybe a half-turn switch to turn them off?

ya, I doubt they'll make the bike look bad during the day or anything, but battery life must be brutal!

Well they have small watch batteries inside the devices ... that's probably one of the things that make them so bulky. But since they're LEDs, battery life probably isn't too bad. It doesn't take much to glow when it's pitch dark.

I definitely wouldn't call myself an expert on the subject, just one who has spent a few minutes with my buddy Google. That site doesn't have a lot of info on those devices. I found most of the ones on eBay from this seller (http://search.stores.ebay.com/YourTheBestBuyer_tire-led_W0QQfcdZ2QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ4QQfromZR10QQfsnZYourTheBestBuyerQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQ saselZ116199546QQsofpZ0). He's got a lot more info on his pages.

Apparently (http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/kawasaki-cruisers/96136-tire-led-lights.html#post1423094) you can also pick them up at Wal-Mart. For something this cheap, I'd say just try them out and see if you like them. Especially if you can find them at Wal-Mart, since you can return them easily. (FYI I couldn't find them on Wal-Mart's website, but YMMV.)

The ones being hocked on ebay state that they have a sensor that keeps them from coming on during the day, FWIW.

I don't think they're bright enough to be noticed during the day.

I bought blue ones at walmart that go on the valve stems....I am afraid to ride at night with them for fear of being pulled over...not sure if they are legal for the road???

years ago I had them on my car. the thing that I didn't like is that they didn't stay on the whole time the car was moving, they'd blink in a pattern. so you'd drive around with all 4 wheels blinking different patterns. needless to say that lasted about a day.

If they're legal here I'd be interested in a pair of these... anyone know what the laws are regarding them in ontario?

it's one of those things that I doubt you'd get pulled over for, like underbody neons, or tint that's too dark. now, if you are driving like an idiot and the cop is having a particularly bad day you may end up with extra tickets for those kinds of things. I've had neons on my car, with really dark tint and a loud exhaust for years and never got pulled over for any of that stuff, mainly cause I don't drive like a moron, but ymmv.

I might just order some then, thanks
