As you and I discussed, Oxtar's name has changed; thus, the clearance. I was totally surprised that the only size in stock was MINE! :eek:

After wearing the boots around the house, I realized they were the wrong size. I have a very narrow foot (10 AAA) and normally settle for a 10B shoe. After searching around (at the recommendation of my favorite nemisis), I found a pair of Sidi boots at the same store (www.derbycycles.com) in a size 44 (Eur) or 10 (USA). I ended up paying shipping both ways for a total of $17, in order to return the Oxtar boots. So $197 later, the boots fit perfectly.

Haven't had a chance to try them on the bike, yet. Last 2 days, 4-6 grandchildren have been waiting for me to get home from work. Off to the local school playground. My bike's gas tank just hisses at me everytime I pass. She wants to go for a ride so bad.

At least I am wearing the boots around the house each night. They are really a great fit!

I was able to go for a ride after work today. All I have to say is the Sidi Way Tepor Boots feel like they were molded to my feet. I couldn't believe how easily the shift lever was moving. It must be from the thicker (than my other boots) section over the toe area, specifically meant for shifting. I was able to get more of the balls of my feet on the pegs, which made me sit farther back in the saddle. So much so, that I actually felt the front of the passenger seat pressing against my butt. There was a good 3" between the gas tank and my crotch.

Kelly was definitely correct when he told me many of the Sidi boots are pretty narrow. These are at least a B width, where the Oxtar ones I initially received are probably a D width or wider. The Oxtar Euro sizing was incorrect as it listed a Eur 43 and USA 10....not! It is really a USA 9.5.

Lastly, the Sidi has a really firm shin pad and ankle armor for both sides of the ankles. Both the Sidi and the Oxtar can be worn around the office without sounding like work boots on a tile floor!

yep, which is why with my fat feet, I stay away from SIDI boots, even though I love the quality. I had a pair of SIDI Onroad boots before and they were very tight at my correct shoe size.

The soles are basically identical, other than the pattern. I don't remember if the Oxtar had an armor like shin guard. I liked the leather of the Oxtar. Both boots protect the ankle bones the same way and the toe covering is thicker on the Sidi. Both are waterproof..Oxtar uses Goretex, while Sidi uses Lorica – Cordura. This means both are breathable.

Bottom line..I would rate the two equal in quality.

Just an FYI, Newenough has the Sidi in a Wide (EE) size for $25 more. They are called "Mega" Way Tepor rain boots:

yep, that was on my short list until I found out they start the sizing one size larger than my regular size. That would make it too big at that point. :(

I'm happy with what I ended up with, plus I just got two more pairs of TCX/oxtar boots in the mail today. :D

If both are the same size, sounds like a machine is out of adjustment at the boot factory!

I bought two different styles of boots of the same size.

Interestingly, they were both made in different factories. Even more interesting is that the pair that was made in China, fits perfectly. The other, which was made in E.U. (European Union??) is too small. So much for my theory about stuff being made in Europe being larger than stuff made in the far east. :confused:

Damn, even the same sizes from the same manufacturer are different physical sizes. Can they make buying the correct sized boots online any more confusing?? :(
