But dragging my boots?! I always thought the pegs would be the first to touch ground. Isn't that what they're there for? Granted, they were a pair of the slightly bulky ICON chukkas and my feet were under the shifter preparing to upshift out of the turn. Just thought it was weird and kind of frustrating that it took a little chunk out of my new boots...

So is my riding/foot position where it's supposed to be?

try riding on the balls of your feet when cornering.

I think dragging the boots/pegs are little too low for the streets.
Or, if it was on a track, change your boots. ;)

Let us know if you manage to scrub off the hero bobbles (the molding bits on the edge of the tyre to the side wall)

Now that would be some leaning.

I never ride with my boot under the shifter while going around a corner (left hander anyway), as this can happen. You could go low enough that your boot will lever grip off the tyres and you could slide and not be able to recover and end up going down. That is just my :2cents: anyway.

Kinda hard to up-shift when your leaned over in a left hand corner. Thats why track bikes go to the reverse shift.
If your foot is up on the peg and your still dragging toe, thats pretty dam sweet :) Thats why the boots have toe sliders :thumbup:

I have accidentally hit my boot but it was taking a short constant left that whipped into a very tight decreasing radius going right. I dont think its good to drag boot lol I just had my right foot pointing out a little to much as I was changing from hanging of the left to the immediate right. Not much time for me to adjust like usual on the pegs

ya good point, I never thought I would be anywhere close though. I'm going to look into adjusting the shifter higher too with the new boots - the toe portion is so bulky I was probably sitting with my toes angled down.

Man that guy can ride, and is showing the world now. Its good to see an American succeeding in a higher form of motorsports (I'm not forgetting about Nicky).

some of those guys are sporting elbow sliders now... i'll give you one guess why.

if you don't have the feelers on your pegs, then your boots will usually be touching before your pegs do. get some decent boots with toe sliders. the bike i was racing last year had my toes dragging all the time. sometimes i'd wear through a new set of toe sliders in one weekend even with my feet tucked up as far as i could on the pegs.

Before any of us try to do that on our Ninjettes, Geoff isn't only displaying some phenomenal skill there, he's also on some uber-sticky tires that frankly have almost nothing in common with what we're riding on other than being round and black. They are almost like superglue to the track, and go from brand new to completely done in 45 minutes. I still use DOT tires on the track as my pace doesn't warrant slicks yet, but even those trackday tires are much stickier than what is generally available for our ninjette rim sizes.

I should probably know this but...."feeler." Is that what this thing is sticking off of the foot peg? Honestly I didn't know if that thing was supposed to be getting scraped or not, but I assumed that's what the rubber sleeve around it was for...

:thumbup: Yup, that's the foot peg feeler. It's meant as an early warning for some pretty significant lean angle for the bike. On track, most people remove the peg feelers to give a little more lean angle, if they haven't already switched to rearsets, which can give even more lean angle.

If you're scraping the peg feelers on the street, you're carrying quite a bit of lean angle. You should be able to carry the same corner speed with less lean angle by getting off the bike a bit more.

I took my "feelers" off. My pants were always snagging on them as I moved off from a stop.

i got into the habit of keeping my foot on top of the shifter, only going under to shift, then right back on top, although my foot isn't always on the shifter as i tend to put the ball of my foot on the foot peg itself...:2cents:

I just read today that Spies will probably move up to MotGP from WSB next year. Edwards moving down to WSB. A lot of talented young guys ready for MotoGP next year.

It's all speculation at this point. Nobody knows anything for sure until the ink dries on the contracts. The way WSBK is going for him now, Spies may not even want to move to GP in the near future.

He's had some tough luck this year, though... Biaggi did what Biaggi does in Losail and welcomed him to WSBK - but then the running out of gas thing and the shifter rod breaking, both while leading races - that kind of stuff needs to be worked out or Nori's going to really REALLY run away with it.

I haven't swapped out yet. Too poor to swap out before they've worn out... Most likely I'll be going Dunlop or Bridgestone in the next couple of months, though. Might even be adventurous and try the Metzeler tourings :rolleyes:

Let's really speculate. Did you see the picture of Rossi in the Ferrari? Ferrari could run a third car in (who knows what organization) next year if Ferrari, Renault, and who knows pulls out of F1.

It must be pure BS because Rossi has a motocycle helmet on while in the Ferrari and everone knows you can't wear a motorcycle helmet in a F1 car.

OK lets get even deeper. Rossi moves to Ferrari (rally, I mean really) and Spies takes Rossi's spot. That's why he changed from Suzuki to Yamaha this year in WSB.

Spies is incredibly talented. So is Mladdin. But, tomorrow is promise to no one.

I've only ever dragged my boots once, quite surprised me as I always ride with my feet in the proper position.
Especially since I'm on a nice n tall dual sport. More motivation to start riding foot out style. :p
