I was at the ECTA website surfing around and what do I find but a picture of the record holding Ninja 250 built by Performance Psycle in Knoxville, TN. I got the chance to see the bike and talked to Chris Hill about all the go fast goodies they put in it. It's a cool little ride. The record was 107.44 and the jockey was Zack Millholland.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the picture and hopefully it inspires someone else to go out and beat that record.

IIRC there was an 08 250r that got up to 111 mph.

edit: Actually it was the same bike, but this thread says it got up to 111.03421 mph (http://www.kawiforums.com/showthread.php?t=125038&highlight=fastest+250)

Then there was one that went 112.7 IIRC, but it was a pre-gen. I'm only listing what the "official" site said.

Well, if each sticker adds up to a few mph as they say, then that's all you need to beat a world record.

Don Smith is the journalist who covered the event, not the owner of the bike. Kawasaki is the technical owner. They are ordering it destroyed for liability purposes. What a waste of a wonderful machine.

Huh? My stock Ninja did 108 on flat...
I guess every millisecond counts when going for a record.
Starting to wonder exactly how much they detuned the 08+ from the factory...

Oh, and I had 20lbs on my back.

Not knocking your post, just wondering to myself.

108 using what to read the speed?

What Kkim is politely saying is there is no way your ninjette hit 108 true mph, and most likely was going around 95-98 actual. The speedos are way off (they read high), and a stock ninjette of either generation would hit their sixth gear rev limiter before touching a true 108. Neither of us are disbelieving that you had it pinned, all I'd say is strap on a GPS and you can get a more accurate measurement.

Also, keep in mind it is exponentially harder to go from 100-110. Or even 110 to 112 for that matter.

I had my Ninja at 13500rpm in top gear the other week :shifty: speedo was reading just over 185kph, with 10% error I have, that is a rough 104mph, though the spreadsheet I have (RPM vs Speed thread on the 'other' forum) states that at 13000rpm I would be doing just over 105mph, so I think my tach was reading high (mine seems to read high when the air temp is hot... )

I know, I should have had a GPS, but I didn't think I would go for a high speed run :p

And where were you doing these kinds of speed?

Yawn. I really don't understand why people go to so much effort to make a fairly slow bike a couple of MPH faster. I'm sure it can be fun to tinker but attaching words like "World's Record" make it sound like a big deal. Almost every off the floor motorcycle can beat this record.

:brushteeth:With all the money dumped into that bike you'd think they could've put a seat cowl on it! :hand:
Maybe they were thinking about a 2up ninjette land speed record..:D

yea. I guess you're right. Why is it that speedo is little off though?

Because anyone can go out and buy a faster bike. That's why someone would want to accomplish this, because others say you can't. Anyone can go out and buy a Ferrari and break 200mph. Only a select few can do that same feat with a Honda.

Very good point. You never know what your's or your equipments full abilities are until you try and half the fun is trying the other half is going above your own expectations.

And where were you doing these kinds of speed? Well now, lets just say the highway where there was no traffic :shifty: :p

Tim My personal reason is because it is hard to do. Sure you can buy an off the floor ZX6R and go faster stock on that then you ever will on the Ninja. But that is not the point, it is taking what you have (the Ninja 250R) and making it as fast as possible with what you can. Chris has reference the worlds fastest Indian, I highly recommend seeing that movie, it is a true story and basically shows the reason why people try to make things go faster, even things likte our little Ninjas.

:brushteeth:With all the money dumped into that bike you'd think they could've put a seat cowl on it! :hand:
Maybe they were thinking about a 2up ninjette land speed record..:D Yeah, I know! the seat cowl is worth another 1mph :p

With the speed-limiter disabled and a bit of minor tuning, a CBR250 would most likely have no problem beating 111mph. I wonder if someone has tried. The CBR has pulled away from the Ninja 250 with ease everytime.
