What do you guys put in your (limited) trunk space?

I want to fit a slime kit in there, but it is too small... and I also want to know if I actually need every thing in the oem toolkit.

Right now I have:
- OEM tool kit
- Tire gauge
- Insurance papers in a zip lock bag
- Small flashlight

Slime spair kit: http://www.slime.com/product/29/Power-Sport-Smart-Spair-(%2350001).html

Agree 100 percent with komohana. All that stuff that you have is a must...in fact I never even thought of the flashlight but that seems like a great idea! I dont have a tank bag or saddle bags for my bike but I always ride with a backpack to keep my brake lock in and you never know when your gunna pick up something. So if theres stuff that you feel like you need when you ride and wont fit...and you cheap like me :)...just have a dedicated backpack for your bike. Im sure you got one around someplace from elementary school or somethin(a powerranger one would be sickkkk:thumbup:)

Tool kit, Stop n' Go tubeless tire repair kit and the waterproof liner to my TourMaster jacket. They all just barely fit under the seat cowl. If I need more room I slap on my AlpineStars Vader backpack.

I always try and take my tank bag with me but am considering buying some sport saddle bags.

x2 on tank bag. I've got a 12V power outlet taking up room in the tray under the seat.
oh and small manual tire pump tucked under the side fairing.

how hard is it to take off the side fairing on the pre-gens? does it pop right off?

just one Philips head screw, but I can get the pump out without unscrewing it.

cool. thanks. i wonder if there is any secret extra space on the 08+? gotta remember to check. i don't think there is though.

i know people who went to the pod air filters and removed the air box have tons of extra room.

Cortech makes some pretty sweet looking sport saddlebags in red, black, and blue. I personally like my Manta tankbag and I'm looking at getting a backpack with a place for my helmet.

I use a joe rocket manta bag also. Over the tail I use Kappa Racer saddle bags. They have 28L capacity. While they aren't going to win a beauty contest, they have been very functional. I have toured with them a few times. Then I bungee a backpack overtop of the rear seat. It allows me to have 4 storage places and is enough for myself to go away for a week comfortably.

I was not using a backpack when I took this pic, but the manta and soft saddles are shown. I would recommend getting a tankbag and soft luggage to anyone who wants to go more then just a short ride. I also have an Ogio semi-rigid backpack that is kindof formed nice and slip-stream like. I wear it a ton. I ALWAYS need more room then any bike's trunk has ever offered me.

I carry a tire repair kit, valve cores w/tool, CO2 inlator w/extra cartridges, tire gauge, alligator clips for my Battery Tender, a tiny LED light, Zipties, extra fuses, utility knife, mylar blanket, and a pocket survival kit with some extra stuff added. I found that some stuff like the inlator fall into the sides of the tail section adding more room. You just have to take the seat off to get to that stuff.

Wow, my trunk is rather empty compared to some around here... I only have my disc lock in it... Not even the toolkit.

That's the one I was looking at. I like it. I would prefer this over the saddlebags as I use the Spyder for the big hauls.

IF you're looking for more stealth storage space definitely check this thing out:

http://thecycleguys.com/

I have the fast pack and I use it to put some of my work stuff in and its super convenient. You can even keep some stuff in it (limited) while it's still collapsed. Worth every penny.

I ordered a seat cowl also so I can switch it out whenever I want. I mainly use the fast pack for work, but its super convenient going to the store and not having to carry a backpack around. Space wise the most I've fit in there is a 12 pack and 3 32oz gatorade bottles.

Do you have a picture of it on the 250? This looks like a great product!

If you look at the custom seat creations thread I posted pics of my seat and the fast pack is on the rear seat. It basically just looks like a carbon fiber seat cover. Ill take some shots with it open and closed for this thread when I get a chance.

That's a great looking bag. I wonder if it would fit on the pre-gen 250's. It seems like it needs to hang on to a separate rear seat... any ideas?

hey jiu jitsu, how does that mount to the bike? wraps around the rear seat?

Jiu Jitsu Player
April 3rd, 2009, 04:07 PM
It covers the rear seat and it has an elastic band that holds it tight (almost like a shower cap). Also underneath are four velcro straps that secure it. Its pretty stable. I've had it full of books and a couple other heavy items and it didnt flop over or anything during sharp turns. I'll try to get some pics of how it ooks underneath when its off the bike.

Tank bag: duct tape, zip ties, electrical tape, bike lock, tire gauge, on head flashlight, microsuede towel, multi tool, Cliff Bar, Rain liner, tire repair kit, manual air pump(on bike), engine oil, bungee cords....hm, what else.

when backpack is bungee'd: camera bag, documents, bottled water, GoreTex jacket, etc.

when Ammo can is bungee'd: 6 pack, groceries, bike parts.
