I'd heard something about more teeth lowering RPM's but being the noob that I am I really didn't have much idea what it was. This helps a lot, but I've got some questions.. Whats the deal with front and back? ie why not sell them together and which do I want, front or back or both? Also, would most mechanics be able to install one of these for me easily since I'm not mechanically inclined, or is it something fairly specialized? Thanks in advance :) Moo-wasaki March 31st, 2009, 06:53 PM Hey so I was just thinking about this today. Thanks in advance :) Here is the DIY I used last week to do my own swap. Just use the steps for the front...not the rear unless you plan to swap both. http://www.kawiforums.com/showthread.php?t=124763 I would say to do it yourself as long as you are comfortable re-adjusting the chain tension and rear wheel alignment. I think there is a DIY on this forum too. ARF07 March 31st, 2009, 07:43 PM ok great, thanks a lot man. This might be a little OT but what's the difference in size for our bikes? I was looking at buying one of these and it's anywhere from 40-48 for the rear. mxnello April 1st, 2009, 03:30 AM for the help with where to purchase, FYI for the other post with questions about a countershaft swap, is worth 3 teeth on the rear [approx] smaller, will have a little less chain wear as well due to slightly larger CS. Alex April 1st, 2009, 09:55 AM Are you planning to go up in teeth in front as well as going down in teeth in back? A change that significant would have a very noticeable negative effect on your bike's acceleration. Ordered my 15 this morning Alex April 1st, 2009, 10:27 AM  mxnello April 2nd, 2009, 03:19 AM I am hoping this change will make 1st gear more usable as it runs out fast [have to shift to 2nd to quick] in addition to helping highway rpm's. mxnello April 4th, 2009, 02:25 PM Good addition, not quite as quick as 14, but improved ease of riding. FMF Apex also an improvement over stock can, |
