Hey Folks,
If there's anyone in the Washington DC area with one of these bikes, let me know!
I just bought a 2000 EX250 in Kawi green. I paid $550 for the bike and it's in good shape. I bought it just a few days before I was leaving for SE Asia for a couple months for work but want to get to know the bike well before I return so I can get right to work on her.
The bike has 12,361 miles and has been well taken care of. It has a Twin Two Brothers exhaust and is in clean shape. A few fairly cracks and a broken side cover stub. I'm thinking of doing a streetfighter or supermoto type conversion. The PO couldn't get it running and gave up. I found that the new sealed battery could crank the engine but didn't produce 12 volts consistently. Also, the throttle was jammed and would stay open when turned. I fixed the battery issue by putting in a new one and oiling the throttle cables got the throttle snapping back properly again. Also, there was no free play on the clutch, which was far too tight. I adjusted it to include 1/4" of free play. I also changed the oil, gas and plugs and ran some Stabil through the fuel system.
After a few cranks the bike fired up but wouldn't idle. I realized someone had turned the idle down to nothing and after some adjusting with carb balancer, she now idles around 900rpm. Not sure if that's correct but she responded well to throttle inputs.
I couldn't do much else before leaving except put her up on a stand so tires are off ground, ran more Stabil through full tank of new fuel. I also coated metal parts and exhaust in WD-40, along with lubing chain.
It seems the previous owner was almost there but ran out of patience. I think this could end up being a great deal.
Looking forward to sharing info on these cool little bikes.
thanks,
Baz

Thanks for all the welcomes! And thanks for the links to find out more about this great little bike. This looks like an awesome site.
As for giving her a name, it's my gf who usually names my bikes for me and I'm sure she'll think of something good for this latest addition to the family.
Can't wait to get back home and begin spending time with her. Uh... I mean them.
Speaking of which I might be home sooner than I thought since things are pretty nuts over here in Thailand right now. Huge anti gov't protests have put Bangkok in gridlock. They managed to boot out the democratically elected leader and she's said to be hiding out in her own region, in the north of the country. Well, Thailand did have a military coup in 2006 when the current Prime Minster's brother was chased out of the country. Seems to be the way they do things over here. Latest news is the mob is threatening to take over and shut down the air traffic control center, which runs the air space over Thailand. So I might be leaving on foot!

And sorry for forgetting to include a pic of the bike. Here she is moments after I paid the man ...

and moments after she got home. It snowed pretty heavily that day for the DC area. Jan 04/14.
